Following British Airways decision that passengers can no longer carry surfboards on board the aircraft, Virgin Atlantic have stressed the fact that they will allow passengers to do this along with their other checked-in baggage.

Virgin Atlantic allows passengers to take diving equipment, golf bags, hang gliders, skis, surfboards, windsurfing boards, bicycles, paragliders and canoes on board with them for free as long as they comply with weight and size restrictions.

In order for equipment to be taken free of charge, it needs to weigh 32kg or less. If it weighs between 32kg and 45kg then a charge will be incurred. Should it weigh more than 45kg, you will be charged and the equipment will have to be transported as cargo.

Surfboards and Windsurfing boards can only be a maximum of 2.5 metres in length and other items must not exceed dimensions of 62 inches in width, height and length.
