UK Airlines RyanairThe UK’s watchdog today banned budget airline, Ryanair’s new advert saying that it was misleading and made unfair comparisons with online travel agent Lastminute.com.

The ad itself included a headline reading “Robbed by Lastminute.com?” and a burglar with “ONLINE AGENT” written across his top. The investigation came to light after a complaint was made by Lastminute.com stating that the ad discredited their business.

Ryanair however disagreed with this stating that Lastminute.com were not authorised to sell their flights and was therefore breaching their terms and conditions. Ryanair also claimed that Lastminute.com overcharged customer by 100% but Lastminute.com argued against this and won.

Ryanair tried to argue that Lastminute.com were inflating prices without consent and without informing passengers, however this was overruled as Lastminute.com’s terms and conditions tell customers everything that they need to know.
