Peloponnese – located to the south of mainland Spain

Peloponnese is a destination that appeals to people who have high interests in history and culture as well as relaxing on the beach. The beaches in Peloponnese are well known for their beauty, especially with their scenic back drops of the Greek mountains. The beaches along the western coast are considered the best and tend to be less crowded than others. You will find both sunbeds and parasols available for you to hire as well as a number of water sports for you to enjoy. Most of the beaches are covered in fine, pale sand that leads down to the waters edge. During high season, some beaches get more crowded than others, however there is generally somewhere for everyone. Accommodation in Peloponnese consists of a number of hotels, apartments and villas. All accommodation generally ranges from 2-4-stars and you will find self-catering, half-board and all-inclusive available.

Peloponnese – plenty of sightseeing and beach based activities

There are a number of water sports available on some of the best beaches of the Peloponnese. These include windsurfing, surfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming and even taking some boat trips. If you prefer to stay on dry land, then why not go and take a look at all of the Greek and Roman remains that are located all around. There are also Venetian castles and palaces to explore. In the north west region of the Peloponnese is the famous Olympia which is a brilliant place for learning about the history and culture of Greece. The Temple of Zeus and the Olympic Stadium and must sees when you visit the resort. There are plenty of ancient ruins on the eastern side of the Peloponnese or you can go elsewhere to find a number of taverns, bars and attractive scenic areas.

Peloponnese – a number of restaurants and taverns to choose from

Peloponnese is home to a number of restaurants where you will find a number of cuisines to enjoy, with the favourite being Greek. There is also a lot of seafood for people to enjoy. As well as this, you will find a number of international cuisines such as Italian, British, Chinese and Indian. Nightlife in some of the villages is quite lively with a number of bars and taverns open until late. Other villages are much quieter and have their nightlife based on their restaurants. There are a number of shops in the Peloponnese region of Greece. You will find clothing, souvenirs, shoes, bags and other crafts located around Peloponnese. Some areas will have more to offer than others. Public transport is good, with a number of buses taking you around the various resorts on the island. Taxis are also available as is car and bike hire.

Peloponnese – long hot Mediterranean summers

Peloponnese enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months in the resort with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Peloponnese with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Peloponnese however it still tends to remain fairly warm.
