Passenger numbers going through Gatwick rise April 14th 2008 by Kirstie

The number of passengers that passed through Gatwick last month, (March 2008) increased greatly compared to the number in March 2007.

BAA released new figures that showed that there was a rise of 8.1% last month bringing the new number of passengers going through Gatwick to 2.8 million.

European scheduled traffic saw a rise of 13.9% while European chartered traffic saw a rise of 12.4%.

EasyJet was the biggest operating airline running from Gatwick in March as it provided 62 routes from the airport since its takeover of GB Airways.

BAA airports handled 12 million passengers in all last month which was an overall rise of 1.2%.
