Heathrow’s Terminal 1 is having a new security system that is likely to affect some passengers.
Biometric information will now be taken from passengers wishing to use the international lounge before boarding flights as well as anyone on an international flight that is looking to transfer to a domestic one in the UK.
The new security is being used to help ensure that no boarding passes are being swapped without people going through the immigration program.
An iris scan and a fingerprint will be taken as well as photo ID and a boarding pass.
BAA are hoping to use the same system in Terminal 5 when it finally opens.
