AirportJohn Gummer, the leading Conservative MP has called for some short haul flights to be scrapped to help cut down on the amount of green house gases.

The flights he wants canceled are the ones flying between Manchester and London.

His idea is being argued as it has been said that the rail links are just not strong enough for the amount of people that travel that route. John Gummer has however said that a new transport policy has to be introduced so that people can travel by train.

However, Jonathan Bailey has said that cutting flights would reduce competition and put pressure on rail networks which could cause delays and disruptions to service.

More people prefer to go by aircraft as it is quicker, however with all the news on global warming, this may no longer be possible.
