It was announced today that over a third of people are not prepared to spend more on their holidays in order to help the environment against all of the carbon emissions.

59% of holidaymakers have admitted that they are not willing to cut down on the number of holidays that they intend to take in order to save the environment. 35% have also admitted that they will not pay an extra £20 per holiday to offset carbon emissions.

Surprisingly, it was people aged under 25 that said they would only select a travel company based on their environmental credentials. However, it was only 24% of people who said this.

40% of people said they wouldn’t choose a company based on its environmental credentials. They all said that they would book a holiday based on the offers that it had and prices.

People in Scotland were found to be the people who were least concerned with the environment as 74% of them said that they would not cut down on the amount of holidays that they wish to take.

39% of young people said that they would cut down on the amount of holidays that they went on in order to help save the environment. It seems that as they are the future and have to live in this environment, they feel more of a need to save it.

It has also been stated that more and more people are now choosing the internet over travel agents. Only 12% of the 2500 surveyed still use travel agents to book their holidays. The internet is the first place people will look for a holiday and many then go on to book online as well.
