It has been estimated that there will be 1.25 million fewer summer sun holidays available in 2008. This is due to the consolidation of so many of the major tour operators.

The big mergers have been between Thomas Cook and MyTravel and then Thomson and First Choice. Now, there will be less flights and less accommodation choices for people looking to travel next summer.

Before the mergers, there was a wider choice of holiday for people to choose from which added to the popularity of people booking late deals.

The decrease in the number of holidays available also means a decrease in the number of package holidays available.

It has now been predicted that Turkey will be the number one destination for Summer 08.

It is thought that many people will still book holidays, they just may feel slightly let down by the lack of choice.

There will still be some brilliant deals for customers but with fewer holidays available, it is important to book fast.
