The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is going to allow BAA to increase landing charges.
The plans mean that BAA will be able to raise charges by 15.6% at Heathrow and 8.2% at Gatwick over the next 2 years.
This is likely to lead to higher ticket prices as airlines will have to pay £11.97 per passenger to land at Heathrow and £6.07 to land at Gatwick.
The revenue is then set to pay for improvements for passengers. The CAA believe that passengers deserve better than they have been getting in recent years at Heathrow and Gatwick, but these changes need to be paid for somehow.
