_42408805_grant_dane.jpgBritish Airways are sending thousands of bags to Milan to clear the back-log of bags that has been growing since Terminal 5 came into operation.

All bags that have European mainland addresses will be sent to Milan for sorting.

400 volunteers are having to work in Terminal 5 to try and clear the luggage. So far the estimated back-log has reached 19,000 bags.

The majority of bags will stay at Heathrow and be sorted here, however others will be taken to Milan as they will be sorted out much quicker.

Currently, they are waiting for space to appear on flights leaving Heathrow to send bags to the right owner.

Today, BA cancelled a further 50 flights but the airline has stated that 92% of their flights will run as scheduled tomorrow.
