The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has urged holidaymakers to check their travel insurance documents to find out which of their valuables are covered.

It has been revealed that many of the insurance companies only cover travellers for a limited amount of items.

Everyone taking out an insurance policy should read it thoroughly to ensure that they are covered on everything that they need.

10% of people travel overseas without travel insurance which is definitely not advised. 4.2 million people travelled abroad without travel insurance on their last holiday.

Many insurance policies do not actually cover certain items when checked into the hold of the aircraft. This is why insurance policies need to be read and understood thoroughly.
