Hersonissos - Located On The North Coast Of Crete

Hersonissos is a resort that has something for everyone. The nightlife in the resort is good and you will find everyone, from young couples and groups of friends to families and more mature couples in the resort. The resort is more suited to people looking for a traditional town based holiday rather than a beach based holiday. The transfer time is around 45 minutes to an hour meaning you have plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery, as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beaches get very crowded, particularly in summer, although there are sunbeds and parasols available to hire. Lifeguards are present at beaches, however many people choose to relax by the pool side instead. There are plenty of self-catering apartments and hotels in Hersonissos. The hotels are mainly 2-4-stars and offer half-board and all-inclusive.



Hersonissos - Plenty Of Different Activities For You To Try

Hersonissos is a brilliant resort for just lazing around topping up your tan by the pool or down at the beach. There are also plenty of water sports available to you at the beach such as scuba diving, para-sailing, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, water-skiing and jet-skiing. Going for walks up in the hills is popular and gives you some brilliant views and sights of the resort. Tours of the local villages also give some brilliant sights as does the open-air museum which portrays the traditional Cretan life. There are also a number of excursions for you to go on such as boat trips to neighbouring islands, trips to archaeological sites including Minoan palace and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. There are also a number of jeep safaris, mountain bike tours, walks and water parks for you to try.



Hersonissos - A Wide Range Of Places To Eat Out

Hersonissos is home to a brilliant range of restaurants offering traditional, local, Greek cuisine as well as a number of international foods such as Italian, British, Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Lebanese. Seafood and fast-food restaurants are also popular. Nightlife n the resort is good with a number of bars and restaurants along the water front, a number of pubs and games arcades and even a number of nightclubs with live music to keep you entertained until the early hours. Some shops also stay open until late at night. Public transport in the resort is good with buses taking you to resort such as Heraklion and Aghios Nikolaos. Car hire and taxis are also available.



Hersonissos - Plenty Of Sunshine All Year Round

Hersonissos summer season lasts from April until October and it tends to be very hot and dry and then mild in the winter. However all year round, the weather is good making it an ideal holiday destination all year round. From the beginning of the summer in April, the temperatures are already around 18°C and there are around 8 hours of sunshine a day. Temperatures continue to rise throughout the summer with them peaking at around 27°C in August. By then, there are 13 hours of sunshine a day. There is a gentle coastal breeze that keeps the temperature at a manageable level. From September to October there are 9-11 hours of sunshine a day and temperatures still remain at around 20°C. The winter rainfall starts in December, however the wettest months are January and February. There is a minimum of 4 hours of sunshine a day in this period with temperatures dropping to around 12°C.
