Playa De Las Americas - Purpose-built, Lively Resort

Playa de las Americas is one of the most popular resorts in Tenerife. Located on the south-west of the island, it is most recognised for its lively nightlife. The side of Playa de las Americas that is located closely to Los Cristianos is a lot quieter than many people will think, with a shopping centre and a few quiet bars near the beach. The other end of Playa de las Americas is very lively and popular amongst the 18-30\'s crowd. The sand on the beach is imported from the Sahara desert making the beach and the rest of the resort very popular amongst young holiday makers as well as couples.



Playa De Las Americas - Plenty To Keep You Occupied

Playa de las Americas offers everything to everyone. There is an 18-hole, crazy golf course, as well as a huge shopping centre underneath the Parque Santiago 3 complex. There is a very large casino, and you will also find hotels ranging between 2-star and 5-star. The casino offers live shows such as dances and music as well as giving you the chance to enjoy yourself with a few drinks. There is a relatively new shopping centre as well as various fountains making the area look very attractive. One of the fountains is a brilliant attraction as the water moves to the music and comes out in different designs with different lighting effects. There are plenty of water sports to keep you happy including rides on the inflatable banana boats and doughnuts, as well as jet-skiing, windsurfing, para sailing, water-skiing and paragliding. There is also a boat trip that takes you out to try and see dolphins and whales. A trip to Mount Teide is a popular choice, especially with the views of Teide from the quieter side of the resort. Trips to the Aqua park and the LoroParque are very popular amongst both children and adults and leave the resorts on coaches. Other activities on offer o you include tennis, bungee-jumping, trampolining, volleyball and go-karting.

Playa de las Americas is renowned for its incredible nightlife. The very well known Veronica\'s Strip is full of bars, clubs and pubs, making the perfect night out for young groups. There are top British DJ\'s, live music and a wide mixture of dance clubs that enable people to stay up until dawn. There are a lot of shops selling leather, clothing, electrical goods, watches, pictures and jewellery. There is also a lot of karaoke bars, discos and cabaret shows showing impersonating acts. You will find many British pubs selling British food, as well as restaurants selling Spanish, Italian and Chinese foods. The local bus service is very good in Playa de las Americas, taking you into Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz.

Playa de las Americas is definitely one of the best resorts in Tenerife. The weather is the best on the island, and it as its best between August and October. The lowest temperatures that Playa de las Americas experiences is in January and December, but this is still above 20C. The most sunshine occurs from June until August but there is still quite a lot of sunshine during other months. There are light breezes that keep the temperatures constant and keep the heat comfortable and bearable. The rain can make an appearance in the winter, but it never rains for long as the sun comes out.
