Cala Mayor - Along The South Coast Of Majorca

Cala Mayor is a residential area with a beach of its own. The resort is close to the lively resort of Palma meaning that you can go out for a lively night and then come back to the quiet. There are hotels in Cala Mayor ranging from 2-5 stars and during the high season, the resort can get very busy. The resort is more appealing to couples rather than families as it can be too quiet for them at times. Flights to Palma take approximately 2.5 hours.

Cala Mayor may not be full of activities, but it is close to Palma Nova and Magaluf, which are filled with fun activities, such as water-sports, for everyone to try. There are a few water-sports in Cala Mayor as well as a few beach activities such as Volleyball and people building sand models. There is a large art collection in Cala Mayor that includes many sculptures and paintings, which interest many visiting tourists. There are also a few local excursions available, such as visiting the caves of Drach in the resort of Porto Cristo.

Cala Mayor has excellent, reliable public transport allowing easy access to nearby holiday resorts in Majorca. There are a few shops available, including a large shopping centre called Porto Pi. This centre contains shops selling souvenirs, jewellery and clothing and plenty of places to buy refreshments. The nightlife in Cala Mayor is very low-key, however you are only a short distance from the buzzing nightlife of Palma Nova and Magaluf. There are also a few bars and restaurants selling various cuisines to keep you satisfied.

Cala Mayor does benefit from good weather as it is located on the coast. The water temperatures on average are high throughout the year, with land temperatures rarely going higher than 30°C. Winter temperatures rarely drop below 10°C however there is a breeze that can make it feel slightly cold. In the summer, there is a welcomed breeze that keeps the temperatures at a comfortable rate.
