NH Porta de Barcelona
“ The Hotel is worthy of more than the Three Stars it has. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the Reception Staff very helpful. The Hotel is just far enough out of the City of Barcelona to become typical Spain, but near enough with the excellent Tram System to be part of the bustle of Barcelona. ”

“ A taxi was used to get us from the airport to the hotel. It was a bit scary when the taxi driver didn't know where the hotel was and spent several minutes getting advice over his radio ! My wife and I were a bit alarmed by this ! Turning into a narrow side street we wondered what on earth we had booked, it didn't look very promising. Reception soon booked us in and we got to our room, first impressions were - different but nice. Exploring the hotel soon set our minds at rest. It was a bit different from hotels we had stayed in before. This hotel has only recently been opened after being converted from a former theatre. The intention had been to make it as light and welcoming as possible and make best use of it's spaces. The decor was modern and worked very well. Our room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning worked very effectively. Best use was made of space in the room but there were no drawers. There was a seperate toilet cubicle and the bathroom was seperated by a curtain that could be drawn across the room. All fittings and fixtures were very nice and the whole thing worked very well. Numerous full length mirrors created a sense of more space and light. We only had our breakfast at the hotel. There was a very good choice at the breakfast buffet, both hot and cold food and it was delicious. The hotel is in a fairly narrow and quiet side street, but it is only a few yards to the main street where there was a good variety of food available at different places and also some shops selling stuff suitable for picnic lunches. Las Rambles was around 5 minutes walk away and the port area was around 10 minutes We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely use it again. We found it clean and conveniently placed. Good food, comfy beds and pleasant staff. If you are looking for a hotel with lots of loud entertainment and crowds of boozy people - then this isn't for you. Snags... well only minor ones. The lifts might be a bit small for regular wheelchair use. There was a very nice lounge, complete with an internet computer setup, comfy and with a selection of books, but, for some reason the sound on the 2 TV's was too loud. Strange in an area that was designed for relaxing in and talking to friends. There was no plug in the washbasin. This was of very modern design, had a lovely mixer tap and.... no means of stopping the water emptying as fast as it was put in. That meant the tap had to be kept running while washing and shaving ! Two minor niggles but overall we would recommend this hotel. The intention has been to create a modern and comfortable decor and it works very well. Food shops and restaurants, the metro and main attractions are all close by. We stayed for 7 nights from the 12 May 2011 and were very pleased with our choice. ”

Amrey Sant Pau
“ Nice part of town and easy access to the sights. Metro very easy to use. Less than 20 min to Las Ramblas, and the cathedral area. Staff at hotel very pleasant and all spoke good English on reception The price we paid was good, but the normal room rate of €178 without breakfast (extra €9) would not have been worth it. In reality, it's a Premier style hotel, worth €60 to €70 per night. Biggest disappointment we found was, NO drink making facilities in the room. A kettle would have made a great difference, as it's thirsty work, all this sightseeing! Although just across the road from the hospital, we did not find it at all noisy, but it certainly was the most beautiful hospital I've ever seen! ”

“ Our stay was unbelievable. We didn't pay for breakfast at the hotel because we always ate out. This lowered our overall price. So I don't know how good the breakfasts are at the hotel, but everything else was super! Room service is a little pricey, but I think that's the case in every hotel. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel!! Great location, great beds, great bathroom, great spa, great staff! ”

“ The hotel staff were very helpful in recommending places to eat. Better than a 3 star hotel, very clean and spacious rooms with mini bar and air con. My only criticism is the restaurant needs a bit of work as I heard my order was ready for the table with a microwave 'ting'. Overall Top hotel! Id definitely stay there again. Walking distance from Las Rambles. Excellent hotel, beautiful city! ”

“ The hotel was really nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful, the only small issue is that you have to catch 2 trains into the centre of Barelona however i felt the hotel was worth it and the train station isnt to far away i would definately stay here again. ”

“ Overall good value for money. Good area close to Las Ramblas. All activities (beach, Barcelona's Nou Camp, shopping) are all within 20 mins Taxi drive. Staff very friendly. Would recommend as a cost effective hotel, maybe not the most luxurious but its also not that expensive. ”

“ In a fabulous location, surprisingly quiet, mix of guests though mostly younger travellers and students. I went with my two teenage kids and stayed in a small, basic room, but clean and perfectly adequate for a cheap break. Better than I'd expected. ”

“ Hotel Miramar is well worth it's 5* rating. Staff were excellent, from the first moment of opening the taxi door and taking our bags to us booking out. Friendly and helpful. Rooms were amazing, with soft drinks and water topped up in the fridge daily, free of charge. So clean as well. Plenty of room inside and great views across the city. Great indoor and outdoor pool, with a good gym and spa inside too. Didn't eat in the hotel, so can't comment on that. By far the best hotel we've stayed in and would stay there again next time 100% ”

“ Hotel is in a residential area, but is easy to find and located close to the metro, so easy access into city centre. We enjoyed our stay in a good quality, clean room. The restaurant was too expensive for us, so we ate in the city at reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful. ”
