we 2 oldies go twice a year. food you get a good choice, a lot of fish. Pool is small but was 32+ degees nice and warm. Good base to go exploring, not suitable for youngsters take them to some night club paradise, will start looking to go in March. if you go give my regards to Maria on reception she's a STAR.

A very nice quiet hotel. A little further away from beach than stated. Lounge areas in an evening dimly lit so not very practical for sitting and reading etc. very clean well kept bedroom with balcony; fantastic views.

Boa Vista Hotel & Spa  4-Star

we were a bit wary after reading some comments, not sure what people expect but we had no issues and I am happy to reccommend the hotel. As abroad a 4 star is probably a 3 star but the hotel was four star the rooms just lacked tea making facilities and hair dryer for me. Did take my own as was not sure but would have been nice to know. Found the air con easy and free!would rather have this free than a tv remote!that someone commented on that you had to get from reception. The staff were very friendly and gave advice on booking trips. We will definately return.

Enjoyed our stay, staff was great. The only thing which was missing for me was fresh fruit, could do much much better. Room was very clean however balcony was not touched for ages so could do with a good clean. Service was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Overall defenitely worth recommending.

    Flor Da Rocha  3-Star

The hotel was clean but very quiet mainly portugese and irish . There is only a pool bar which shuts at 7pm and only sells toasties and crisps to eat no restaurant or entertainment . We ate at classics on the strip every night very friendly, extremely good value for money and fab cocktails 10 out of 10 . The beds were made everyday but no cleaning got done towels were changed often too . Staff were helpful and friendly on reception and pool bar if not fluent . Idont think i would go back to this hotel purely due to the lack of entertainment although the hotel next door was VERY noisy on saturday night . Also a huge case of manyana as the pool never opened on time and you cant access it until someone unlocks the door it was meant to be 9am but often we waited till closer to 10am and to be fair it was the only plus side to the hotel . The only english tv chanel was eurosport and you cant buy extra chanels like in most hotels . Aqua shopping centre is amazing and i would go back just for that and classics .

    Villa Buganvilia

The Villa Buganvilia was a lovely villa, well located in a quiet cul-de-sac with a great pool, plenty of sunbeds and a very sociable large table and chairs on the veranda. It was well equipped and comfortably furnished and very good value for money. On arrival it was spotlessly clean but we only had 2 maid visits in 2 weeks and they only changed the towels and emptied the rubbish. The only disadvantage with this villa is the lack of air conditioning which would have been nice at night as we could not leave any windows open due to a problem with mosquitos. I would recommend this villa though and would certainly book to go again as we had a wonderful family holiday.

These apartments are well appointed being close to both the old town and the "strip" as well as having nearby shops and bars. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the apartments are spacious light. All in all I think they are good value for money and I would recommend them for anyone wishing to stay in that particular part of Albufeira.

    Sheraton Algarve  5-Star

This is the second time I have stayed at The Sheraton Hotel. It is a fantastic 5star hotel which I would highly recommend to anyone. Breakfasts are beautiful. Hotel prices for food and drink are a little expensive, but you have a wide range of lovely restaurants outside the hotel or you can get a taxi to Vilamoura or other close places.

    Colina Village  3-Star

The Colina Village, Carvoeiro was excellent value for money and we had a lovely time. The apartment was huge and really clean; the only thing I would comment on was that the sofa and armchair in the lounge were a bit scruffy. The kitchen was better equipped than mine at home! The bathroom had his and her sinks and a bidet. The staff were great, particularly the evening concierge, Phillipe, who was helpful and courteous with a good sense of humour. The pool area was gorgeous and the pool was huge and really clean. There was a childrens' play area and 2 tennis courts, all in good condition. We did not eat at the restaurant in the evening, but the poolside snacks were very tasty and varied. I would recommend accommodation to my friends and family, though not to singles necessarily, as it is not in the action of the town centre, being approx. 20 minutes walk away or 5 minutes in a taxi, so it is a nice quiet place to stay, off the beaten track. Overall, 9.5 / 10 and would go again.

    Castelos da Rocha (Apartments)  3-Star

For the money we paid this was one of the best value ever! As we didn't pay very much, we were expecting it to be horrible - how wrong we were! The appartment is a little on the old side and could do with a bit of updating. However the bedrooms were large enough and the lounge / dining/ kitchen area was spacious. Kitchen was fully equiped with oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle & washing machine which was a bonus. Maid service most days, clean towels & sheets every 4 days. The pool was clean and always had sunbeds available. There is a small snack bar by the pool for coffee, icecream, toasted sandwiches etc. The prices here were good. Location was excellent, a few streets back from the main bar - restaurant area, so easy to walk to without the late night noise. The main prais da rocha beach is only 5-10 mins walk. The complex manager Laura runs this with help from her husband & son, Laura is fantastic, anything you need she will help with, nothing is too much of a problem. This is not a 5 star hotel, so dont go expecting the Ritz, it is a large but basic apartment which is in an ideal position for a fantastic family holiday in Portugal. I would stay here again.

    Hotel Carvoeiro Sol  4-Star

This was not our first stay here and it certainly won't be our last! We love this hotel. Good location and relaxed atmosphere. Only two very small comments to make; the room keys were not all that reliable and quite frequently had to be reset. Also, was very disappointed to discover that evenng meals are no longer being served as we really enjoyed the hotel food last time. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to our next visit :-)

John Micheal and Christina are very nice. They try to help at every chance they can. John even came to have a drink with us on my husbands birthday which was really nice. He gave us lots of advice about the area and trips. He booked us taxis every time we needed one. The only complaint was the aircon wasn't up to standard but everything else was brilliant.

    Apartments Mourabel  2-Star

Having just stayed here for a week with our three children at the end of july as a cheap and cheerful holiday we weren't sure what to expect. Yes the rooms are basic but more than adequate very clean and staff very kind and courteous at all times. Maid service almost every day. The choice of 3 swimming pools is great for families, free shuttle bus into the marina was used too. The supermarket is ideal for bits and bobs, fab bar at pe-do lago apartments , food is amazing for the price you can feed five with drinks for less than 35euros! All in all a great little gem of a holiday and for less than 550 in may for 4 people inclusive of flights and accomodation and transfers, we paid 900 in july for a 2 bed apartment for 5 inclusive of flights accomodation and transfers there really is nothing to complain about! We have just booked to go back.

    Pateo Village (Apartments)  3-Star

Great standard for budget accommodation. Kitchen facilities better than any we have had self-catering. Rooms cleaned and towels changed on alternate days. Pool cleaned everyday. Located up a steep hill from the old town and not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties or the unfit. Hotel staff very helpful, one night there was some noise from a private villa opposite, which was sorted with one phone call to reception. Food and drink expensive, but think this is down to the Euro, at the moment. Fantastic holiday overall, would go back:)

    Villas de Agua  4-Star

Villas de agua is a lovely peaceful place to stay in a beautiful setting by the sea, set amongst the pine trees with only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Olhos de agua and two beaches. The accomadation and complex were good although beginning to look tired and in need of some refurbishment. It is marketed as a 4 star complex which was probably true when it first opened but due to it needing some smartening up I would rate it as 3 1/2 stars at most. When we arrived they had no record of our booking, luckily they had a vacant villa, but the reception team dealt with things really well and sorted the situation out quickly. The pool bar and upstairs bar never opened, however the cafe/restaurant seemed to be open all day. I would stay at Villas de agua again but I do consider it to be slightly overpriced as there is now newer and better accomadation available in Olhos.
