Corinthia Hotel St. Georges Bay
“ Positives: Fantastic hotel with absolutely beautiful surroundings minus the construction work going on outside. Food was to a very high standard The room was lovely, with tasteful interior and marble bathroom. Highly clean standards Hotel restaurant, Grill 3301 excellent 5 star dining experience. Highly recommend the gourmet set menu. Majority of staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly bar staff. Negatives One of the receptionists (unaware of her name, slim, had blonde hair) was quite rude and had a definite superior attitude which was off-putting and a shame as it reflects on the rest of the staff who were actually very nice. Cleaning staff had to be called twice as no one came when we first called. Mortifying experience, a staff member had entered our hotel room to re-stock the mini-bar during a 'private' moment despite a 'do-not disturb' sign on the door. He was very apologetic but it was embarassing for everyone. Overall I would stay at this hotel again, but only in summer, as it is too cold to use the lovely outdoor pools in winter season. Highly Recommended!!!! ”

Riviera Resort & Spa Hotel
“ We decided to go to Malta in the middle of November, it was a lovely time for relaxing. During our stay the weather was quite changeable although sometimes it was still warm but we weren't brave enough to take a dip in the cool seas on these days. In the hotel the price wasn't for all inclusive, I booked B&B only but we could eat in the bar if we wanted to. The service was excellent! Our Malta holiday gave us a buzz! ”

Marina Hotel at the Corinthia Beach Resort
“ November, not brave enough for testing outside pools! Spa at Corinthia next door is nice if on the small side. All staff are really friendly and the hotel's many themed restaurants all offer good value. Tour buses stop outside but Malta buses now taken over by Arriva and replaced; bus timetables and routes still in state of flux and fair walk to nearest bus stop. Having said that, the buses do seem to be frequent to/from the capital. Third stay at this hotel and the warm welcome made up for the dull weather. ”

Cavalieri Hotel
“ Had a lovely stay at the Cavalieri, the views from our balconcy were fantastic, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was nice. I wish i had taken my hairdryer with me as the one in the room wasn't too great, also the air conditioning wasnt brilliant. The catering in the hotel was ok, breakfast wasnt fabulous, we were glad we went bed and breakfast and not all inclusive as the restaurants in st julians are fantastic. The outside bar area with sofas is great for chilling out. Wouldn't recommend this hotel for children as there is nothing really for them to do except the pool! As we went in October the weather was mixed so it would have been better if the indoor pool was heated and the sauna was on. ”

“ Enjoyed our stay, did not have a sea view and as a resultant a bit of noise from passing traffic/people. Breakfast was a bit of a 'free for all' but this was more to do with the clientele as there was plenty of food and choice. ”

St. Julian's Bay Hotel
“ The Staff were very good, very helpful but the hotel is living on past glory. Public areas and all floors need decorating badly. We had to ask for a fridge, no phones not enough coat hangers. Thank goodness air con worked as temperature outside was very hot, Breakfast room very dark, dingy and no air con . Food just adequate- the waiter was marvellous - as were all staff but needed more help . Hotel in a great position. We will not return , we met other people who had paid a lot more than we had and were very disatisfied so we consider ourselves lucky . ”

Intercontinental Malta
“ This hotel is right on the doorstep of Paceville and the very busy very nosy nightlife! Which was fine as we left the kids at home so some life was great and our room was in a court yard setting so the noise was minimal. This is not a place if you want peace or to take the kids. The hotel was very clean with large communal areas to chill out in. We ate in the hotel for breakfast which was great, something for everyone. But if you arrived when busy it was very difficult to get some tea! Its the room that let it down. It was a deluxe double. We had a balcony facing the courtyard but it also faces many other rooms and balconies too, so not a private chill out zone. The carpet needs to be replaced, felt soapy to walk on and looked shabby in areas. The bed was not comfy to sleep on we had bad backs by the end of 3 nights and glad to leave. The bathroom was very poor. I am sure it looked fab when first done out, but not now. There were cracked tiles on the floor and walls and the grouting and sealant needed all re-doing, very black around the shower base. I would not go back or really recommend to be honest as I thought it was a lot for what we paid for the stay so would try somewhere else next time if we go back to Malta. ”

Hotel Paradise Bay
“ I must say that I have never written a review before, but I was so disillusioned by this hotel, that I felt I needed to warn others before booking. First of all, the hotels food was superb, the rooms were cleaned daily. Thus ends the positive review. British holiday makers be warned, we read the reviews prior to going and thought that the few who scored the hotel poor, were difficult to please, however, these reviews should be recognised as fact. We were a family of two adults and three children staying two weeks half board. At the evening meal we found that a drink was not included in the half board. I asked for water, the waiters response "are you French?, are you chech?" to which I replied no, English. He then said we could not have any drinks. We enquired at reception as to whether we could upgrade to all inclusive, this was denied as we were not FRENCH!!!! All the information in the hotel is in french, they obviously have a contract with the french, that supercedes any other country. The rooms are reasonably well equipped, however you have to pay 17 euros for the safe, 12 euros for the fridge, and the tv will only give you 5 channels, of which one is in English. Take beach towels with you, as they do not supply them, unless you pay. Ladies take your hairdryer, as the one in the room lasts approx 30 seconds and couldn't blow out a match. This hotels room information, details that they are not a money making organisation and that they will give you the holiday that you deserve, I am sure that the managing director who parks his rolls royce oneday and his masserate the next is testimony to the fact that as British tourist you are sitting ducks, ready for the picking. Our advice is to take a rucksack, go to the nearest supermarket, approx 15 mins drive and stock your room with drinks, as they will rip you off right and centre. The pool was described as salt water, indeed it was, a little man every morning filled the pool with cups of salt, which was supposed to give the illusion of sea water, it kills your eyes, but not the smell, that seems to occur on sundays, when they seem to have a rest day. During our stay, the local maltese were allowed to come to the hotel for the day, the hotel ripped them off too, charging approx 35 euros per person, this allowed them use of the pool and an evening buffet, this was at the expense of paying guests already in the hotel, who had to sit by and watch lots of frolicking in the pool by teenagers whose parents were busy talking and eating, whilst there offspring, caused mayhem and injure to children in the kiddies pool. Bearing in mind that as a hotel guest you are not permitted to take food and drink in, the visitors came complete with packed lunches, drinks and big cool boxes, they had a ball. I nearly forgot, the jacuzzi pool, you need to pay 2 euros for 15 mins. At this hotel you are quite a distance away from other restaurants, activities, etc. Hiring a car is a must, in order to replenish cost effective supplies, but be warned book your car in at reception on your arrival or you get clamped, the hotel staff do not alert you to this risk. Going back to their claim that they will give you a holiday that you deserve, bear this in mind, as it is obvious that they have no respect or regard for the British, or any other nationality, unless you are French. ”

Seashells Resort
“ Negatives 1. Elevators were poor as some were not working and the operation sequence of others was poor. 2. Air con was poor as it was centrally operated system , would benefit from individual units. 3. Hotel could of provided more information available for trips and flight transfer details. Positives 1. Excellent, friendly and courteous staff. 2. Good quality and variety of food at all mealtimes. 3.Entertainment was average to good. 4. Location is good in terms of Malta overall. 5. Facilities generally are good. internet etc 6. All inclusive service is good. Would visit Malta and this hotel in future, though price was relatively high compared to other hotels in area. ”

Qawra Inn
“ The first room we were given keys for on the 2nd floor was a dump. No lock on the door as it was broken. An ancient aircon unit that I daren't turn on. A dirty shower room. I was given 2 more room keys for the 3rd floor. These were slightly better but the aircon didn't work on the first one. We eventually took the 3rd room we looked at as it was larger and the aircon worked (later discovered it leaked). Plaster and paint were falling off the walls and ceiling. The toilet flush didn't refill with water so I had to fill it with the shower. The pool was dirty. Food basic but plentiful and always something that was ok. The room was cleaned most days and we got fresh towels. Desk staff constantly hassled with complaints. Cheap but not so cheerful. ”

Mavina Holiday Complex
“ I have just returned from the Mavina having stayed for New Year week. The location is great, 2 mins from the bus terminal which takes you to most of the island, local shops within 1 min walk and the sea is about 5 mins walk. The room was basic but comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool, which I imagine would be noisy in the summer but some of their apartments have balconies overlooking the front the Hotel which would be slightly quieter. The Hotel has a restaurant and a bar, which seemed to cater for everyone. Next door is a restaurant/bar, which was a bit noisy at night and could be heard from our 2nd floor apartment, but was only a distant noise and always stopped at 1am. I would recomend the Mavina if you are looking for a Hotel that is friendly and relaxing. The staff were very friendly. I have been to Malta a few times and the next time I go back, I will stay at the Mavina. ”

Damiani Hotel & Apartments
“ The most amazing feature of this hotel was the excellent service, particularly at the front desk. The room and Hotel were really clean, which was very important for me because I had a bad experience while I was staying in The Buggiba Hotel prior to moving to Damiani Hotel. The hotel is close to the beach and I sincerely recommend to anybody who wants a clean room, warm and friendly reception. I will definitely book it again whenever I go to Malta. ”

Hotel Milano Due
“ A good hotel in a very good location. Reception staff always polite and on hand to offer help and advice. Room service offered daily, always a bonus when on holiday. Perhaps a little more variety at the breakfast buffet. We had a room on the side of the hotel. Opposite our room there was always people on computers. Very little privacy. We were not informed about this when we booked in. We would stay at this hotel again, but would request a sea view room. ”
