“ The hotel is in an absolutely perfect location for St. Mark's Square. It was also very convenient for the water taxi services both up and down the Grand Canal and the airport. The setting for breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal is quite spectacular and the breakfast buffet was both plentiful and appealing. I stayed in the Casa Nova Suites in a building adjacent to the main hotel and it was very well appointed and extremely quiet and peaceful. I did have a minor problem setting the A/C but this was soon solved by the maintenance man and seemed to be finger trouble on my part. There was little to find fault with and our overall stay was memorable and certainly would be considered again. ”

Rigel Hotel
“ Situated on the Lido away from the maddening crowd, this hotel was basic but clean and quiet and conveniently situated near the main vaporetto stop for the Lido. I would recommend it as a good base for anyone on a site seeing weekend. ”

Alla Giustizia
“ There is no lift but the stairs are wide so luggage was little problem. Not good for disabled guests though. Breakfast was standard Continental but whilst plentiful and good quality, it had minimum acceptable variety. Information in the rooms was minimal. Buy a transport ticket for as many days as you need from the tobacconist next door. He is a really nice young lad who tries to help. Go online before you travel to Venice Connected and buy the ticket that gives you access to museums, churches, internet and toilets (yes public toilets are 1.5 euro a go!). The hotel sells internet access at 3 euro an hour and so don't tell you about public access. With a good map (and a compass) you can use the water buses and regular buses to see everything. We went into the Co-op next to the DM water bus stop and bought lunch. Water is a lot cheaper in the supermarkets too, so picnic tools in the suitcase are sensible. As you go through Mestre to and from the hotel, you can get off at the Hotel Centrale and walking down the road beside it takes you to the main town square and most of the restaurants. There is a very good fish restaurant beside the hotel but it's a special treat in price. There is also a good Korean style one on the walk from the railway station. At restaurants you usually won't be given the menu of the day, or the option of a carafe of house wine unless you ask for it, but they all have it. Hope you enjoy the trip. We did! ”

Arcadia Hotel (Centre)
“ I thought the Arcadia was excellent value for money when added to the flight as a package. It was easy to get there by water taxi from the airport or a short walk from a 41 or 51 bus stop. There is a flight of stairs from the street to reception and another to the upper bedrooms and breakfast room. The room was clean and room service very good. Our shower head was a bit blocked up but still usable. The windows are single glazed so there is some noise from the street but not unacceptable. Generally, we were very pleased to be there. ”

Boscolo Bellini
“ A nice hotel in a great location. Some small rooms, some larger! Staff were friendly and helpful. I would only rate the food 2-star, as the breakfast was the same every morning, with only two cooked items that were usually cold. Coffee was very nice, though! Otherwise, this hotel is very pleasant. ”

Canal Hotel (Centre)
“ Our so-called double room was 2 singles added end to end (toes to head). I did, last year, have pictures of the other staircase, which was filthy. When I made comments about it at the reception area I was told the cleaning staff had gone home for the day - the dirt was obviously more than a day old! Location was excellent. ”
