Impero
“ The hotel location is brilliant for the main tourist places of interest. Most things were within a 15 or 20 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were professional and very helpful particularly Edwin on reception. We had a bad experience on the metro when my husbands wallet and my purse were stolen but that's no reflection on the hotel. Beware of travelling in crowded places. The hotel room safe is good for valuables. A word of advice to future travellers. Don't keep all your cash and valuables with you. Just take what you need for the day. That way if you are robbed or pick pocketed you won't lose everything. ”

Center 1+2+3 Hotel
“ The hotel was good for what we wanted i.e. a base whilst we were out most of the time. The communal area was very small and there was nowhere to sit really, if you just wanted to spend an hour out of the sun, other than in your room. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. My one criticism was that my daughter found a plaster in her bed that wasn't hers! ”

San Remo
“ Very central in Rome, only 10 minute walk from Rome Termini railway station. The hotel was clean, tidy and quiet (not on a main road). The room was adequate with a large bed and plenty of cupboard and drawer/shelf space. The bathroom was a little small, but you don't spend your holiday time in there. The room was made up everyday with clean towels, soap etc. No tea/coffee making in the room but could be purchased from the bar downstairs and taken to the room. The hotel is within walking distance of all the major sights. Some very good, reasonably priced restaraunts close to the hotel. The hotel is not a five star hotel but for a few nights it's a nice little place to stay if your on a budget. I have not recommended for familes, seniors or disabled for the simple reason I don't know what the hotel offers for them. ”

Giotto Hotel Rome
“ The hotel was very clean. They cleaned every day. Breakfast was ok, service good. This hotel is more for people without children. Very nice view, hotel is located on the hill. Close to shops, about 10 minutes walk to bus stop, 20 min to nearest metro station. I will definitely recommend to my friends. ”

Champagne Palace
“ There was no bar to be able tro get a drink after a long journey and the room was a joke, you couldnt swing a cat in it. The next day we wanted advice on how to get to Porta di Rome shopping centre and so we asked the receptionist. He told us to get the No 86 bus and stay on it until the last stop. This we did, a 50 min trip only to find that we were in the middle of a housing estate on the outskirts of Rome. A 15 min stop and another 50 minute ride back to the Termini where we were informed that the No 86 bus was incorrect. Overall, a bad experience and it ruined our 3 day visit to a beautiful city. ”

One Park Hotel
“ We were happy with this hotel. It is on a busy road, but there is a back street to get to the station - about 15 mins walk. The lighting in the rooms was not good for readers if you like a few minutes when you get into bed. There was no lift, but this was not a problem for us, but could be for others. The staff were exceedingly helpful but there was not a lot of English spoken by some staff. We enjoyed eating in the neighbourhood but I don't think many tourists do this. Food was good generally but the cereal was like cardboard. We would stay there again. ”

Angel
“ The Angel is superbly located for all the major Rome attractions. Five minutes walk from Ponte Sant' Angelo, ten minutes from the Vatican, and only thirty minutes or so to the furthest (eg, Colloseum etc). The Angel's reception staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the two men, and spoke impeccable English. The room was fairly basic but clean and comfortable befitting the price we paid. There were plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well as theatres and cinemas and regular public transport. We would definitely consider returning to the Angel on our next visit to Rome and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. The only crticism is that being based on the first floor and with a rather unpredictable and antiquated lift, access to the rooms might be fairly difficult for the elderly of infirm. ”

Grand Hotel De La Minerve
“ The hotel was lovely but disappointing at breakfast. We were not welcomed into the breakfast room, tables were not cleared and so we, and other guests, moved the dirty utensils to be able to sit down as there did not appear to be any hurry to get guests seated. The reception area had dirty crockery and food stuff that had not been cleared away so was a little offputting when sitting down to relax. ”

Nova Domus Hotel & Suites
“ The room was well maintained and clean, staff lovely, very friendly and helpful. Being slightly removed from the hub of Rome, it's very peaceful. Easy walking distance from the Vatican City and the rest of Rome, I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it was fantastic value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and am already planning to return to Rome in 2010. ”

Scheppers
“ Myself and my family stayed at Scheppers hotel last week and I must admit I was disappointed. We were looking forward to a special holiday in Rome and it didn't turn out that way. The reception staff member on arrival didn't speak English, making checking in very difficult. Despite me e-mailing to confirm our booking in the morning, when we arrived they had released one of the rooms to someone else. They knew we were arriving late as THEY booked the taxi for us from the airport. The staff member who was on reception during the day was abrupt and brash - bordering on rude. Our bedroom had a huge crack down the wall, which was quite disturbing. The cups in the breakfast room were dirty and had many had cracks and chips in them. Could be because the breakfast staff were regularly dropping them. One morning I counted four dropped cups, two dropped plates and one dropped teapot. All that in just twenty minutes. The information available in the hotel is minimal. It would have been nice to know how to get into Rome and where to get the relevant transport, but none of this was readily available and the staff were unhelpful with assisting. The "Welcome Bar" was disappointing. We could not get tea, coffee or sandwiches during the day when requested. The breakfast was awful. No details how to use the machines and the staff had to continually clean up the spills, the ham was very cheap and nasty stuff, no fruit or yoghurt, the cereal was tasteless with only 2 choices. There were some very noisy residents in the hotel and it would have been nice if the staff members did something about this instead of allowing them to disrupt all the other residents with their swearing and fighting in the halls of the hotel during the night. The day we were leaving, we had five hours to wait until our taxi collected us from the hotel. We asked for tea and coffee to be served from the "Welcome Bar". Despite there being a menu on the bar, which stated this could be supplied, we were told this could NOT be offered. There was a large coffee machine and a fridge in the reception area, but the staff member was unwilling to accommodate our request. Shortly thereafter, the same staff member had coffee and toast and didn't even have the decency to offer us anything. We were willing to pay. We ended up walking down to the Holiday Inn to have a cold drink and some hospitable staff assistance. ”

Flaminio Village Residence (Bungalow Park)
“ The room was really clean and there was plenty of space. The pool was beautiful, but you had to wear a swimming cap to use it, which was a bit of a pain. Staff were friendly but didn't seem to have a lot of time for us. You could hear dogs barking loudly in the afternoon, which was only bad if you fancied a sleep in the heat. Overall we had a really good stay! ”

Petra Hotel And Residence
“ The Hotel Petra was a top 4 star Hotel. The room was brilliant, though it was a shame about the pool, as it doesn't open until July. The food was above standard and the staff were helpful. As it was the first time I have stayed in Rome, I would recommend the Hotel. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The Hotel also provided maps to get you around all the sites in Rome and there is a taxi service you can book to the Airport. I really enjoyed staying there and it made the experience worthwhile, especially as it was a special occasion because it was my partner's 40th Birthday. ”
