Minamark Beach Resort
“ This hotel is almost exclusively Russian patronage so expect rude ignorant noisy greedy drunken guests sharing the dining room, bar and beach with you. I've just returned from 5 days and was glad to get home. The staff do their best but fail to control any of the anti social tendancies of the Russians. The food is basic and generally tasteless. The drinks are basic. The pool is nice but cold, the beach is clean but covered in sunbeds with Russians standing around getting drunk and talking loudly at each other. Very busy and noisy outside the hotel with a funfair right next door that was open until 2am! No hot water in room for first two days, and the toilet seat kept falling off despite being "repaired" on day two. Very basic cleanliness and typical Arab tattyness about everything. I'm well travelled and I understand that this was not the most expensive option in Hurghada, but I was still dissappointed by the lack of respect of the other guests who dominate the running of this hotel. ”

Pyramisa Blue Lagoon - Euro
“ We had a really good holiday and the hotel and all the staff looked after us extremely well considering the lack of customers and the general situation in Egypt. They did really well during our second week when there were only British people left and not very many of us either. The animation team were fantastic and we all became very good friends. This resort is OK if you get it for a good price and if your standards are not too high; we have stayed in better resorts elsewhere including Sharm el Sheikh. We know that you have to judge hotels in the context of where you are. It is good value as long as you accept its limitations, it is somewhat tired, and has a poor beach. We did have a fab holiday, but to sum up: we wouldn't use the Pyramisa again. ”

Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel
“ Fantastic hotel. The pool, hotel rooms and cleanliness were superb. It boasts 5 restaurants, but did not clearly state that only 2 are open in the evenings, one being a buffet restaurant that you are expected to eat in most nights and the other is an a la carte, which you have to book and we found it fully booked for the week we were there. Luckily they managed to fit us in for the last two nights, as we are not very keen on buffet food. Most of the staff are very friendly but there are a few who are not. All in all a fabulous relaxing holiday! ”

“ First time at this Hotel. Could not really fault it - though a bit more variety of food would be nice. But we have been to Egypt last three years and is probably on par. Anyway, we have booked again for 2011 so I guess that pretty much says it all! ”

Emerald Hotel
“ My wife and I went to the Emerald hotel. We arrived christmas day to be told en route to hotel, our hotel was nicknamed moscow 2. We laughed, but not for long. As we checked in our room was not ready we had to wait 30 minutes. Finally we got our room, bedroom was fine, tiles in bathroom need regrouting, bath alright if you are a midget. Anyway to get to the point staff couldn't do enough for us, because we were ritish, couldn't fault them. BUT we were the only British in the whole hotel, and as far as we are aware the only British in the whole golden five. Everything was written in Russian. Nights we were kept awake by very drunk, loud, rude Russian guests. Even hotel staff could not believe we had been put in this hotel. They would love the British to go and stay there, but I can't see this happening while full of Russian guests. ”

Hotel Roma
“ On arrival, the reception staff kept my wife and I waiting for more than 45 minutes as they could not find our booking? For most of the 6 days staying in the hotel, we could not use the lifts (both lifts were out of order). It was very hard for me as we were on 3rd Floor and I did suffer from 2 heart attacks last year. Very hard indeed! The best thing about this hotel is the location. ”

Titanic Beach Spa and Aqua Park
“ Returned 18th April 2008 from the 'New Titanic Beach Spa and Aqua Park' and would not recommend at that time, as it was not yet complete. We arrived in the dark and on first impression thought 'wow', then we were taken to our apartments, which were about 400 metres from the reception and dining rooms/bar. The pools were all lit up and the place looked fantastic in the dark. Things started to go downhill from then! We arrived at our apartments eventually - Us in one and our children (2 teenagers) in another one next door. We were the only two apartments in the block completed and were the first in them. Ours was next door to a building site (told the owners villa) and the kids were in a room next door (no connecting door to ours). When we entered their room there was a connecting door leading into the apartment on the other side, which again was a building site with no windows or doors sealing them from the outside and with direct access from the beach. We immediately told the hotel this was not acceptable and wanted to change rooms - Sorry hotel fully booked. We barricaded the connecting door with the settee and beds. Anything that was dropped or put on the floor was covered in builders dust and debris. The balconies could not be used for debris and dust and patio doors had to be kept closed at all times. We were told the builders would not be disturbing us as they would not be there. 7am next morning and every morning after that we were woke up with the constant hammering, drilling, grinding etc and shouting of the builders. Again we asked to move and were told hotel full. The place was covered in flies and we even saw a rat one night in the upstairs bar - when we told the staff (after trying to describe rat and pointing it out) they just shrugged and laughed. We all went down with VERY dodgy tummies and I even stayed in bed and for once slept (even with the builders banging) for 48 hours. We were not the only people ill - practically every family we spoke to had been ill. The pools were freezing cold and the beach bar was a health hazard. As more apartments were completed, more people arrived and the towels and sunbeds became a nightmare. Russians and Germans dominated the whole place. This was our 5th trip to Egypt and although it was really rough, it will not put us off going back, although we will go to a hotel which is completed and not so off the beaten track. I would say give this hotel at least a year and it may be complete - presently they are building another six blocks and putting in more slides (only a few at moment and they don't all work) I know you may read this and say a holiday is what you make it and believe me I would be doing the same if I was reading it. Well, we did the best of what we had and did enjoy some aspects, although this was outweighed by the bad points. All I can say is thankfully this is not our only holiday of the year and we will not be put off Egypt having been there before and know what we can expect. I would not rule out returning to this hotel in the future, but as I say this would not be for at least another 12 months. When reading reviews, please be careful as there are two Titanic Aqua Park hotels and friends we had arranged to meet were in the other (we were not allowed to join them even for a day, although it is owned by the same company) . ”
