    Aparthotel Horizonte Bay  3-Star

Hotel was difficut to find as we arrived in the evening by hire car and there were no street signs, also no sign on the hotel. Room was better than expected as there was a fridge and cooking facilitied, if required. There were twin beds with the alternative of a double sofa bed. The hotel is in quite a remote position with a forty minute walk to the nearest town and decent beach, so not very good for families with small children unless they intended to spend the whole holiday by the pool. Staff were excellent. Sall and Oscar were very friendly and Andreas, the entertainment man did his best to involve all the guests. As the hotel is quite small with not too many guests an intimate atmosphere developed with all the guests getting to know each other. Unfortunately the holidy was spoiled by the quality of the food. Breakfast was generally O.K., although it would have been nice to have orange juice rather than squash. Cannot comment on the lunch as we ate out mostly, but the dinners provided were pretty poor.I appreciate that the holiday was inexpensive but even on a tight budget the food could have been more appetizing. It would have been good if coffee could have been available in the dining room in the evening. Drinks were generally O.K. except that they kept the red wine in the fridge in the bar, although they did keep it out when we complained.

    Barcelo Puerto Castillo  4-Star

We were glad we picked the accommodation at Barcelo Puerto Castillo rather than any of the other Barcelo apartments in the town. The complex was smaller and much quieter. The apartment was modern, bright and airy and we had a lovely view over the pool and sea. The pool area was clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. It had everything we wanted and we only marked it down due to a few things. TV - hardly any British chanels, it would have been good to have some BBC chanels. The apartment needed a good deep clean. Things like skirting boards and the floor under the beds were dirty. Value - a nice apartment but for self catering we got no extras without paying for it, so rather expensive we think. We did not see why we had to wear a wrist band as it gave us no concessions. Service at Reception was hit and miss depending on who you spoke to. Catering - we self catered but were disappointed in the lack of nice restaurants in the resort. We did find one which was the Italian in the port area. Others offered very basic food and not particularly nice. All in all we wanted a holiday by the sea and with guaranteed sun which is what we got.

    Lobos Bahia Club  3-Star

I paid 300 for 3 nights accommodation on an all inc. basis and flights which I thought was reasonable, but you get what you pay for. I traveled alone for the purpose of completing an open water dive course. The hotel complex was tired and shabby as was my apartment. Thankfully I went all inclusive as self catering would have been difficult due to the dire lack of kitchen equipment. The bathroom had no plug so although the shower was over the bath there was no option but to shower. However, there was always plenty of hot water and the pressure was good. The food was actually quite nice; although not an extensive selection what was on offer was always simple and tasty. Having said that, I was only there for 3 days and would probably have been bored of the same food after 2 weeks. There was always a choice of lovely salads, a couple of different meats and fish, pasta and potatoes and of course breads, cheese and cold meats. Children would have been happy to eat the simple offerings. The reception staff were always very helpful but the majority of the other service staff seemed bored and were never in a hurry to elp.

    Apartments Caleta Del Mar  3-Star

These Apartments have seen better days, but on the whole they are acceptable for the money. However they are badly positioned with nothing else around. No entertainment, no- where to eat or drink in the evening unless you are a good walker or enjoy spending alot of your holiday money on taxi fares. The reception is closed quite early in the evening and there is no supermarket near by you need a taxi just to buy essentials like water etc...I would give this accomodation a miss and look for something nearer to the centre of the resort.

    Villas Stella Paradise  3-Star

When we arrived the room was not ready, so had a wait of 3 hours whilst they prepared the room (not easy with 2 small children). When we finally arrived at the room, I'm not sure what they had been doing because it was anything but clean. There were stains all over the wall, presumably where previous occupants had splatted mosquitoes, also the location over looking the pool was, as we later found out, not the quiet area we had requested. Day 2 packed up and moved to another room after a lengthy debate with reception, and here's another point, they didn't seem overly keen to help, everything seemed to be an effort for the reception staff, from big to small issues they all seemed to be dealt with a certain apathy, and we never did get the sharp knife we requested (kind of important for self catering) despite asking 3 times. Day 3 discovered it's not only the reception staff who seem to be suffering motivational issues, the German lady serving at the pool bar seemed to be onboard with the ethos. Whilst on the subject of the pool, it seemed in a state of disrepair, the rail leading down to the pool had a chunk missing leaving exposed metal and quite a few tiles broken leaving sharp edges, definitely had to keep an eye out for the children. Also not a spare lounger or parasol if we got to the pool past 9am, we tried several of the pools and the same issue. Some positives: the "train" driver was great with the children and even let them ride up front with him which they loved, the restaurant staff at breakfast were friendly. In summary the whole resort was probably quite good 10 years ago but has suffered from a lack of investment and is definitely showing it's age, not recommended for families with young children. Oh and if you go to the small zoo at the bottom, watch out for the red parrot - it nearly took my daughter's thumb off!

    Barcelo Jandia Playa  4-Star

My review of this hotel only is based on the "Premium Club" section which is the upgraded area for adults only. Firstly the transfer time took 4 hours ! Over two hours waiting for the shuttle bus then over two more hours getting to the resort. We stayed for two days in the main hotel which was awful !! Food selection bland and hot food barely warm. A "bun fight" would best describe it. The whole main hotel complex is on a hill with accommodation blocks spread all over it. The smallest pool nearest the road only had water available (no other drinks at all) from the bar and was unmaned. The room had no smoke alarm (although we did get that fixed), poor decoration, a safe that was locked and took three calls to reception to get it opened. We eventually paid the upgrade price and it was worth every penny. Quiet, lovely pools, huge sun beds, the rooms had comfortable beds, better bathroom facilites, superb food, wonderful service and branded drinks. Could not rate this up grade highly enough. Overall the comparison between the Main Hotel and "Premium Club" like going from a holiday camp to the Ritz!!!

    Oasis Duna  3-Star

The reception staff very good and helpful. Pool area very good(although didn`t use) and the gardens very pleasant. Downside, the rooms require a complete makeover, rather tatty although cleaned regularly. The restaurant was chaos.Too few staff to cope with the volume and food not great. Only used the bar once, not impressed. Won`t use the hotel again. Much better vaue hotels in town .

    Barcelo Corralejo Bay  4-Star

The hotel and resort in fact were extremely clean, the staff friendly and the room spacious. Our only issues were that the rooms were not cleaned until late each day which for us ruled out trips to the beach in the mornings as there would be no towels to use on our return until after 3pm. Also the aircon was not turned on in the room at night which meant it was extremely uncomfortable for sleeping! Breakfast was great all you could possibly want, Pool we didnt use but heard many say that two of the supposedly heated pools were too cold to use.

Aparthotel Castillo Antigua & Suite  3-Star

The whole holiday was great, we had a lovely time thanks to you. Lots of things to do and excursions to go on. The hotel was huge and the room we were supposed to get was all out, so we got a bigger room and we were so pleased with it. The maid came nearly every day and did a really good job cleaning it. The whole hotel was clean, pools were lovely but cold, well worth the money. Service at hotel was brilliant, I think they need more utensils in the room for cooking but otherwise we had a brilliant holiday.

    Cay Beach Caleta  4-Star

Me and my husband stayed on an all inclusive basis. There was not a lot of choice and whatever was served at lunch was repeated on the evening meal. The meals offered were warm, by the time we put our food on the cold plates and got to our table the food was cold. Snacks during the day were served at the pool bar and all pre-prepared and left outside in a warmer to help ourselves. There is a pool bar with outdoor and an inside seating area, which is used also at nighttime. All chairs and tables are plastic so no nice bar lounge with comfy seating, it's more like a canteen area. Occasionally there was entertainment - not good! On the upside, the staff were friendly, although they didn't give us much information when checking in. We were given directions to our accommodation and it took us 15 mins to find it! A sat nav would have been good, especially at night as it was very poorly lit. The bungalows were spotlessly clean and well equipped. I would not stay here again. We stayed in the Hotel Costa Caleta last year and it was a far better choice! Maybe Cay Beach Caleta didn't cater as much with winter travellers?

    Tahona Garden  2-Star

The decor was tired, bath stained, bulbs not working and plug sockets hanging off. However, it was cheap and cheerful. Towels were changed three times a week. The overworked staff were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast looked ghastly, so I stuck to toast or bread rolls. Was grateful I hadn't booked full board. Still, had a lovely holiday as just a few minutes walk to excellent beach and good variety of restaurants. Booked early so paid a very low price, not bad considering.

    Cotillo Lagos  2-Star

This is the second time we have enjoyed a two week stay at the Cotillo Lagos apartments, both being equally enjoyable and relaxing ! This is a small, simple, self catering complex situated directly on the lagoon beaches in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura. The lagoons are totally safe for people of all ages to swim and snorkel or even fish in so the simple life is the order of the day :-) The staff are friendly, helpful and let you get on with whatever you want to do. Fantastic local restaurants serving the best seafood you'll find anywhere, or anything you may fancy if fish is not your thing :-) Local reliable buses will take you anywhere on the island if you have the need for a bit more noise and activity. Highly recommended to all 'free spirits' and those wishing to get away from it all to recharge the batteries !

I am sorry to say it wasnt nice here. Our room was dirty, the bath was rusty and the toilet didnt work. On the second night we had a leek in the ceiling and a man came to fix it with a hammer and towel. After complaining a lot we moved to the room next door, which wasnt much better. The accammodation is old and needs a lot of work on it, such a shame. The pool however, was lovely.
