Russian Music and Dance
Russia was the main home of classical ballet as it developed during the 19th century and in the 20th century the 'Ballets Russes' revitalised ballet all over the world. In the modern era, the Bolshoi and the Kirov Ballets continue the classical tradition. Famous names include Ulanova and Nureyev.

Moscow

The Trans-Siberian Railway is the way to see this massive country. The six-day journey takes you from Moscow to Vladivostok, passing through endless forests of birch and pine, log-cabin settlements and vast steppes. The route takes you past Siberia's Lake Baikal, a waterway as big as Belgium, and multicultural Irkutsk, the most appealing city along the line.
