Ovacik is a resort that is well suited to families and couples who enjoy spending time together and want a relaxing environment to stay in. From Dalaman airport, the transfer time is around 1 hour and 45 minutes. The resort does have some nice beaches, however the best beaches are located nearby in Olu Deniz. The beach has gorgeous, clear, turquoise waters as well as fine, pale white sands. You will find a lot of accommodation in Ovacik in the form of hotels, B&Bs and self catering apartments. Many of the hotels are 2-3-stars, however you will find a few 4-star accommodations as well. Most of the accommodation is surrounded by beautiful scenery meaning you have some brilliant sites to look at.
There are plenty of water sports available to you in Ovacik. These include taking out a pedallo, riding on a banana boat, jet-skiing, water-skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing and windsurfing. Canoeing, kayaking and white-water rafting are all popular activities for you to try as well. There are many other sports and activities available to you as well such as climbing up the mountains or even paragliding. These are both activities that are weather permitting and full instruction is given. If you would rather stick to something more familiar then why not try cycling or horse-riding. Not only are these great activities, they are great ways to get around the resort and look at the scenery that it has to offer. There is so much countryside to explore and you can do it with these activities. There are also many excursions that you can go on, such as boat trips into other resorts or to other islands for shopping and sightseeing. There are also mud baths at Dalyan and Butterfly Valley tends to be very popular as well.
Ovacik is home to many restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines. Obviously, you will find a lot of Turkish cuisine which is highly recommended, however should you want some more international cuisine, then you can try Chinese, seafood, British and Italian cuisines, as well some of fast food. The nightlife tends to be quite laid back with a few bars and restaurants but it is not as lively as nearby Olu Deniz. If you do prefer lively evenings then head there for some late night entertainment in hotels and bars. There is a good choice of shops in Olu Deniz, where you are likely to find jewellery, leather, clothing, shoes, bags, crafts and souvenirs. There are several buses available in Ovacik taking you into other resorts such as Olu Deniz. There are also many taxis that are easily spotted as they are bright yellow and offer good rates.
Ovacik is a hot resort with 320 days of pure sunshine a year. August is the hottest month in Ovacik with temperatures exceeding 35°C. There is a cooling sea breeze that sweeps through the resort keeping the humidity down and temperatures at a comfortable level. You will also be lucky enough to get 13 hours of pure sunshine a day in Ovacik. From July until the end of September, it is very unlikely that temperatures will drop below 30°C. From October onwards, temperatures are still above 25°C and you will still see over 10 hours of sunshine a day. The water temperatures are very warm making it all the more pleasant to try water sports. During the winter, temperatures are still around 15°C. There are still around 5 hours of sunshine a day for you to enjoy, however there will be the odd shower. The rainfall is very infrequent and does not last long so there is still plenty of time to go and enjoy the sunshine.
