Altea - One of the most beautiful cities in Costa Blanca

The small beach resort of Altea is very attractive and very popular with couples and families due to its relaxing atmosphere and scenery. The time taken to transfer from Alicante airport to Altea is around 1 hour and 45 minutes meaning you have plenty of time to look at the beauty of Costa Blanca and get an idea of the location of Altea. The resorts beaches are very attractive and are very popular with both tourists and locals. In total, the beaches cover 3 miles of the coast and are split up into sections. In the North is the Cap Negret and the south is the Cap Blanc. The beaches offer very attractive views and are the perfect setting for a relaxing day or evening. You will find a wide range of accommodation in Altea with everything from hotels to hostels. The hotels generally range from 2-5-stars and are very luxurious in the top range. They offer a wide range of board basis from half board to all-inclusive. The apartments and villas offer self catering and the hostels are likely to offer room only. Camp-sites are also available and are actually very popular with tourists.

Altea – plenty for you to see and do

Altea offers a wide range of water sports on its beaches. These include scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, fishing, sailing, water-skiing and jet-skiing. There are also plenty of excursions for you to enjoy such as Aqualandia, the safari park or even Spain's biggest theme park, the Terra Mitica. There are plenty of things to see in Altea such as the art studios, flower decked houses and craft shops. It is the perfect resort to go walking around. Other favourite activities include golf, tennis and football which many people enjoy. Horse-riding is a very popular activity and many people see this as a great way to see the rest of the attractive and scenic resort. There are plenty of fiestas for you to see that occur throughout the year, particularly within the summer months.

Altea – many high class restaurants for you to choose from

Altea is a very relaxed resort and offers high class restaurants and bars. There are no license and opening hours laws and in the summer you will find many bars staying open late offering a lot of entertainment. If you would prefer a more lively evening then a trip to Benidorm ten minutes a way would be a good idea as here you will find international DJs and late night bars and clubs. The restaurants offer a lot of high class meals and cuisines such as Spanish, Mediterranean, Chinese, Indian, British and Italian. The shops in Altea tend to send little crafts, artwork and souvenirs although you may find the odd clothing and jewellery store. For better shopping head over to Benidorm. There are plenty of buses and taxis in the resort that will take you into other resorts such as Benidorm. They are all reasonably priced as well.

Altea – perfectly warm climate all year round

During the summer months, the weather in Altea can be anything from 25-35°C. During the evenings, the temperature decreases to around 15°C, making for a slightly more comfortable night. August is the warmest month in Altea and temperatures have been known to sore up to 40°C. There are often sea breezes in Altea keeping you slightly more comfortable both day and night. They also help to maintain the temperatures and keep them slightly down. Altea winters are very mild, although the temperatures can range from anything from 6°C to 20°C. Villas may feel slightly cold in the sinter months so ensure that you rent one with heating. November is the wettest month in Altea, although the 'Gota Fria' has been known to occur. This is when torrential rain comes down, making floods occur and destroying beaches with rough waves.
