Vilamoura – located about halfway along the southern coast of Portugal

Vilamoura has a wide suitability and caters for couples, families, sports enthusiasts, and holidaymakers with physical disabilities. Golf lovers in particular will enjoy the resort. The transfer time for this resort from Faro airport is around 30 minutes. This means that you have plenty of time in the resort itself and just enough time to look at surrounding scenery and get a vague understanding of the location of the resort. You have 2 choices when it comes to beaches in Vilamoura. Falesia beach is covered in golden sands and backed by picturesque cliffs. There are a range of facilities available including children\'s areas, sunbeds, parasols, showers and number of bars. Water sports are also popular on the beach. Marina beach is smaller, however it is still covered with golden sands. You will find hotels, villas and apartments in Vilamoura. The hotels range from 3-5-stars and offer half-board and all-inclusive. The villas are luxurious and both the villas and the apartments are self-catering options.

Vilamoura – plenty of sports and water sports to enjoy

Vilamoura has plenty of water sports located at Falesia beach. These include windsurfing, surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, water-skiing, jet-skiing, paragliding, swimming and sailing. There are also plenty of sports for you to try such as tennis, for both beginners and experts, lawn bowling, golf at one of the 5 courses, squash, clay-pigeon shooting and a riding school that enables you to see more of the countryside. There area is well-suited to those who enjoy cycling. Sightseeing is popular in the resort, especially with areas that contain ruins of an ancient Roman city. There are also plenty of local excursions for you to go on such as a tour of the coast of Spain, an extended coastal tour, a jeep safari in remote areas or a trip to Lisbon for shopping and sightseeing of historical monuments.

Vilamoura – wide ranges of dishes in the many restaurants

Vilamoura is home to a number of dishes in the restaurants. These include seafood, mainly shellfish, Indian, Chinese, Italian and British cuisines. You will find everything from sandwiches to a la carte restaurants. Vilamoura has a number of things to do in the evening such as go to the casino, visit one of the 4 clubs in the town or go to one of the many bars which have live entertainment such as music or shows. Vilamoura shopping is limited to souvenirs and clothing. If you want to do some serious shopping then head to Lisbon. A weekly gypsy market is also held in Quarteira. There is a regular bus service to other areas of the Algarve and taxis can be found at the taxi rank by the marina. There are also a number of local car-hire companies around the resort.

Vilamoura – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in Vilamoura is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Vilamoura are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Vilamoura with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
