Vale do Garrao – located west of Faro

Vale do Garrao is an upmarket resort that is popular among sports lovers, particularly golfers. The transfer time from Faro airport to the resort is 40 minutes. This gives you plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery and get a vague understanding of the location of the resort and your accommodation within the resort. The beach in Vale do Garrao is very long and covered in golden sands. There are bars and restaurants along the edge of the beach to keep you refreshed during the day. Vale do Lobo is the main beach that gives you direct access to Faro beach where you will find many water sports to try. Parasols and sunbeds can also be found. You will find a number of luxury villas in the resort as well as hotels and apartments. The villas have their own pools and the apartments have all facilities that you would expect. They are also self-catering and are mainly 2-4-stars. The hotels in the resort also have a number of facilities and offer half-board and all-inclusive in 3-5-star options.

Vale do Garrao – plenty of sports and water sports to enjoy

Vale do Garrao has some brilliant water sports available at Faro beach. You can get direct access to this beach. You can try windsurfing, snorkelling, surfing, scuba diving, jet-skiing, water-skiing, swimming and sailing. Golf and tennis are popular activities in the resort and both beginners and experts are welcome to try both. There is a leisure centre nearby in Vale do Lobo which people interested in fitness will enjoy. There is a picturesque countryside around meaning there is plenty of sightseeing for you to do. As well as the local facilities, there are a lot of local excursions for you to try. You can try a tour along the coast of Spain, a jeep safari in remote areas, an extended coastal tour or a trip to Lisbon for shopping and sightseeing of various historic monuments.

Vale do Garrao – several restaurants with international cuisines

Vale do Garrao is connected to Vale do Lobo, where you will find a number of restaurants with a number of cuisines available. The speciality is seafood, with a lot of shellfish and Portuguese. However, international cuisines are also popular so you will find Chinese, Indian, Italian and British cuisines among others. There are a wide number of bars and 2 discos available that stay open until late to keep you entertained during the evening. The tennis and golf clubs have a number of bars within them as well. There is very little shopping facilities in the resort itself, however you will find a few souvenir and clothing shops. A large supermarket is also there for those of you on a self-catering option. Public transport is fairly good with a bus service running around Vale do Lobo. Taxis are available and can be booked at hotel receptions, as can car hire. There is also a bus service to Almancil where you can then connect to other parts of the Algarve.

Vale do Garrao – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in Vale do Garrao is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Vale do Garrao are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Vale do Garrao with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
