Portimao – located near Portugal\'s south coast

Portimao will appeal to many people who are seeking a busy holiday environment. It is not for those who like quiet beach resorts. Some areas of the resort can be quite steep so it is important to review the resort if you have walking difficulties. Golf lovers will also enjoy the resort. The transfer time for this resort from Faro airport is only around 30 minutes giving you just enough time to look around at surrounding scenery and get a slight understanding of the location of your resort and your accommodation within the resort. The beach is located in Praia da Rocha and is very popular with plenty of sunbeds and parasols to share. However in peak season it does get very busy. Portimao – plenty of activities to keep you entertained

There are a variety of water sports for you to try such as water-skiing, jet-skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing, surfing and scuba diving. Clifftop walks have proved to be very popular as well as golf at many of the nearby resorts and complexes. They welcome both experts and beginners on the golf courses. Horse-riding is popular as is the nearby water park. Both are popular among both adults and children. There are plenty of boat trips for you to go on which will take you to neighbouring beaches so you can travel around to other resorts. There is also a sports and health club that many people will enjoy. There are also plenty of excursions for you to go on such as visits to museums, cathedrals, Monchique Mountains, the chapel in Lagos or Silves castle. As well as this, you could try a jeep safari, visiting Lisbon for shopping and sightseeing or driving through the mountain villages.

Portimao – visit Praia da Rocha for some vibrant nightlife

Portimao has a few restaurants with the speciality of seafood. The particular favourite is shellfish. There are some other cuisines as well such as Italian to cater to more tastes. For a vibrant nightlife, head to Praia da Rocha where you will find bars, pubs, clubs and discos they stay open until late. Many of the hotels will also have evening entertainment programmes for you to enjoy. You will find shoe shops, souvenirs, clothing stores, crafts, leather goods and bag shops. The bus service in Portimao is good with buses taking you around the whole of the Algarve. Taxis are also easily found around the resort.

Portimao – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in the Portimao is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in the Portimao are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in the Portimao with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
