Lisbon Coast – located on the western coast of Portugal

The Lisbon Coast is a popular destination for couples and families looking for either budget holidays or mid-market to luxury holidays. Lisbon Coast is popular with surfers, golfers and people interested in nature and water sports. There are a number of beaches on the Lisbon Coast, all covered in golden sands and a number of facilities. The beaches range from being uncrowded, to lively with bars, restaurants and discos. You will find a variety of accommodation on the Lisbon Coast from villas to apartments to hotels. The villas and apartments are self-catering and are mainly 2-4-stars whereas the hotels are half-board or all-inclusive and are mainly 3-5-stars.

Lisbon Coast – plenty to see and on the Lisbon Coast

Many people spend most of their day on the beaches. This is where you will find a wide number of water sports. These include, surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, swimming and sailing. Birdwatching and walking are popular activities and there are a number of national parks to enjoy. Cruises, deep sea fishing and river canoeing have become popular activities. Golf is something that many enjoy and Lisbon has some brilliant courses that welcome both beginners and experts. There are also a number of excursions for you to enjoy such as visiting the medieval village of Obidos, the Palacio de Quelez or the Mafra monastery.

Lisbon Coast - plenty of restaurants and cuisines available

Most restaurants on the Lisbon Coast are reasonably priced and there is a wide choice available. You will find everything from sandwiches to a la carte. There is Portuguese and seafood, predominately shellfish available in most of the restaurants. You will find more international cuisines in some restaurants such as Chinese, Indian, British and Italian. There are a number of bars and a couple of clubs in the area. Many of the hotels also put on evening entertainment programmes. Many of the bars will offer live music to keep you entertained. Shopping is good in the resort with clothing, souvenirs, shoes, bags and other crafts available. Public transport on the Lisbon Coast is good with buses travelling around the are connecting you with other parts of Portugal such as the Algarve. Taxis are also available in the resorts.

Lisbon Coast – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in Lisbon Coast is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Lisbon Coast are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Lisbon Coast with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
