Cabanas – located in the south eastern corner of Portugal

Cabanas is a resort that will appeal to couples and families looking for mid-market beach holidays, most of which are self-catering. The transfer time for this resort from Faro airport is anything from 20-45 minutes. This gives you plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery, get a slight understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beach in Cabanas is very peaceful and quite isolated. It is covered in golden sand and is served by a number of amenities. Most of the accommodation consists of self-catering apartments, however you will also find a few villas and a number of 4-5-star hotels offering half-board and all-inclusive.

Cabanas – entertainment available in the accommodation complexes

Cabanas activities can mainly be found in the accommodation complexes. This includes swimming and tennis. Other than that, you can go to Tavira and search its historical centres and many churches. There are also plenty of local excursions for you to go on. These include a trip to Seville, the Old Algarve and local villages, a visit to Moorish castles such as Mertola and Silves, a visit to Loule market or take in the views and relax at Monchique hills and spa. Cabanas is located next to Ria Formosa National Park which is a must-see for nature lovers. There are also many golf courses near to Cabanas.

Cabanas – number of restaurants offering different cuisines

Cabanas has a number of restaurants with the majority offering Portuguese cuisine and seafood which is predominately shellfish. There are also a few international cuisines available such as British, Chinese and Italian. Most of the evening entertainment is laid on my accommodation complexes such as live music and shows. There are a few bars and a nightclub available in Tavira. There are a number of souvenir shops in nearby Tavira as well as various craft shops. The Old Market is a well known shopping centre in the area and another market is open on the third Monday of every month. The bus service in Cabanas is good with a services to Faro and other resorts in the Algarve. There is also a local train service and taxis and car hire can be booked from receptions.

Cabanas – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in Cabanas is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Cabanas are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Cabanas with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
