Stalis – located on the north coast of Crete

Stalis is a resort that is for families and couples who are beach-lovers. Most people who come to the resort spend most of their days relaxing on the beach. The transfer time for this resort from the airport is around 40-50 minutes, giving you just enough time to look around at surrounding scenery and gain a slight understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. There are several sandy beaches located in Stalis which are all good with plenty of facilities including sun loungers and parasols. The beaches are all easily accessible. Accommodation in the resort is good with a number of self-catering apartments and studios as well as a few half-board and all-inclusive hotels. Most accommodation ranges from 2-4-stars with a range of facilities and services.

Stalis – perfect resort for relaxing at the beach

Stalis is a resort that is quite calm, meaning daytime activities can usually be found at the beach. There are also a lot of bars and taverns along the beach to keep you refreshed throughout the day. There are a number of excursions for you to go on such as boat trips to neighbouring resorts and islands, trips to the various archaeological sites such as the Minoan palace and Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, jeep safaris, mountain bike tours, scuba diving and water sports in other resorts, walking trips through the Samaria Gorge and walks to other resorts on the island of Crete.

Stalis – a number of restaurants available for you to choose from

Stalis is home to a number of restaurants with a number of cuisines to choose from. There is obviously a lot of traditional Greek cuisine available as well as a lot of seafood. A number of restaurants also have menus from other European countries for you to enjoy. In the high class hotels, you will find some high class restaurants offering a range of cuisines. There are a number of bars and discos in the resort with a number of Greek nights and barbecues carried out for your enjoyment. Public transport in the resort is good with frequent buses taking your to other resorts such as Heraklion, cheap taxis taking you anywhere and car and bike hire available at all times. A mini train also links you to Malia.

Stalis – plenty of sunshine all year round

Stalis summer season lasts from April until October and it tends to be very hot and dry and then mild in the winter. However all year round, the weather is good making it an ideal holiday destination all year round. From the beginning of the summer in April, the temperatures are already around 18°C and there are around 8 hours of sunshine a day. Temperatures continue to rise throughout the summer with them peaking at around 27°C in August. By then, there are 13 hours of sunshine a day. There is a gentle coastal breeze that keeps the temperature at a manageable level. From September to October there are 9-11 hours of sunshine a day and temperatures still remain at around 20°C. The winter rainfall starts in December, however the wettest months are January and February. There is a minimum of 4 hours of sunshine a day in this period with temperatures dropping to around 12°C.
