Sissi – located on the north coast of Crete

Sissi is a resort that suits families and couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday. The resort is slow-paced so suits lose looking to just enjoy a relaxing time in the sunshine. However, the resort is only 3 miles away from Malia which is very lively so you can enjoy a lively nightlife if you choose. The transfer time for this resort is around 1 hour, meaning you have plenty of time to look at the surrounding scenery as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. There are a couple of beaches in Sissi which are covered in golden sands that lead down to the waters edge. Both sunbeds and parasols are available to hire on the beach making it an even more attractive setting to relax. Accommodation in the resort is good with both self-catering apartments and half-board or all-inclusive hotels. They all mainly range from 2-4-stars and have all services and facilities that you would expect them to have.

Sissi is a relaxing resort with a few activities for you to try. There is a happy train that takes you around the resort so you can see which areas that you want to visit in more detail. Children especially love this activity as it is something different for them to do. Beach volleyball is available as are a few water sports such as windsurfing, snorkelling or scuba diving. There are also a few excursions for you to enjoy such as visiting the ancient Minoan palaces at Knossos and Malia, visiting the archaeological museum in Heraklion or visiting other nearby resorts or islands. There are plenty of boat trips available to you from the harbour.

Sissi – a quiet nightlife for you to enjoy

Sissi is a quiet resort with a few restaurants and bars to enjoy. A number of restaurants are available offering traditional Greek cuisine and a lot of seafood. A few international options may also be found in the hotels. Nightlife is quiet with a few bars offering music until late. If you are looking for more options then head to Malia for a very lively atmosphere. Here you will find bars, pubs and clubs with loud music, cocktails and karaoke, open until the early hours of the morning. There are also more cuisines available in the resort. Shopping in the resort is limited with just supermarkets, mini markets and souvenir shops. You may also find a few craft shops. Malia again has more options. Public transport is good with car hire available, taxis ready to take you anywhere and buses to other nearby resort such as Malia.

Sissi – plenty of sunshine all year round

Sissi summer season lasts from April until October and it tends to be very hot and dry and then mild in the winter. However all year round, the weather is good making it an ideal holiday destination all year round. From the beginning of the summer in April, the temperatures are already around 18°C and there are around 8 hours of sunshine a day. Temperatures continue to rise throughout the summer with them peaking at around 27°C in August. By then, there are 13 hours of sunshine a day. There is a gentle coastal breeze that keeps the temperature at a manageable level. From September to October there are 9-11 hours of sunshine a day and temperatures still remain at around 20°C. The winter rainfall starts in December, however the wettest months are January and February. There is a minimum of 4 hours of sunshine a day in this period with temperatures dropping to around 12°C.
