Lindos is a resort that caters to everyone whether you are looking for an upmarket holiday or you are travelling on a budget. Families are well catered for in many of the larger hotels. The transfer time for Lindos is 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on where in the resort you are staying and how you are travelling there. The length of the transfer means you have plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. There are 2 beaches in Lindos to choose from, one of which is considered the best on the whole island. Swimming is safe on the beach and there are a range of water sports available. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire and the golden sand just makes it all the more appealing. The other beach is a lot quieter, although water sports, sun loungers and parasols are all available. You will find both hotels and self-catering apartments in the resort. Lindos is a village so swimming pools are scarce, however there are plenty of facilities to enjoy.
Lindos has the best beach on the island of Rhodes and therefore has plenty of water sports available for you to try. The water sports included are windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, hiring out a pedallo, going on a boat trip or just swimming. Banana boats are also very popular. There are plenty of areas in the resort for you to explore such as the town with the ancient acropolis, them amphitheatre or the local church. There are also a number of excursions for you to enjoy such as a shopping and sightseeing trip to Rhodes Town. There is also a full day island tour to enjoy, a boat trip to other island such as Symi or Marmaris in Turkey, a scuba diving excursion, a cruise with a beach picnic or even a water park in Faliraki. Cycling in the resort is a popular activity and gives you a chance to get around the resort and take in all of the sights. Tennis, horse-riding, hiking, golf and bungee jumping can all be done in or around the resort. A number of family activities can be found such as go-karting, bowling, mini-golf and paint balling.
There are many restaurants available in Lindos with a variety of cuisines on offer. The favourite is Greek although you will also find a lot of seafood as well. If you prefer something more international and familiar then why not try Italian, Mexican and Chinese. There are also a number of fast food options available should you prefer this. There are a number of bars available in the evening offering live music and satellite TV. You will also find a few discos in the resort and late-night shopping. Lindos has a number of large supermarkets and souvenir shops. You will also find jewellery, leather goods, ceramics and a number of other crafts. Public transport in the resort is based around a bus into Rhodes Town or a taxi rank in the main square.
Lindos enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months in the resort with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Lindos with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Lindos however it still tends to remain fairly warm.
