Kalymnos – located in the south-east Aegean

Kalymnos caters mainly towards middle-market families looking for a different, quiet resort to holiday in. people who enjoy activities such as walking, rock climbing or scuba diving will feel right at home here. The transfer time for this resort is around 15 minutes to half an hour meaning you have plenty of time to spend in the resort itself but you will have the chance to see some of the surrounding scenery. The beaches in Kalymnos are good in all of the resorts with golden sands leading down to the waters edge. The best beach is located in Platis Gialos. Accommodation on the island is good, with a number of self-catering apartments and 2-3-star hotels available. Many of the hotels offer half-board and have all of the facilities that you would expect.

Kalymnos – plenty of sightseeing to be done around the island

There are a lot of museums to explore in Kalymnos such as the Archaeological museum in Pothia and the diving museum in Vlyhadia. There are also a great number of Cathedral's and churches for you to enjoy. The Castle of the Knight's of St. John is also a popular place to see. If you prefer other activities then why not try rock climbing or walking through the hills. Both activities will give you some brilliant views of the island. Scuba diving is very popular, with a lot of marine life for you to see. As well as all this, there are local excursions for you to try such as trips to Kos and Leros or even Bodrum market in Turkey.

Kalymnos – a wide choice of places to eat

You will find some brilliant waterfront taverns in Kalymnos offering traditional Greek cuisine and a lot of seafood. As well as this, you will find a couple of Italian options offering many different pizzas and even burger bars and fast-food restaurants. Most of the nightlife on the island is found in the taverns although there are a few lively bats dotted around and nightclubs that are open until the early hours of the morning. And open-air cinema can also be found in Pothia. Shopping on the island is fairly basic with crafts, souvenirs and a few clothing stores available. Public transport however is very good with buses travelling through all resorts. Taxis are also available and have reasonable fares which you can afford.

Kalymnos – a typically Mediterranean climate

Kalymnos has brilliant weather with over 300 days of sunshine per year. Summers in Kalymnos are long and hot with winters being cool and wet. The average annual temperature is around 17.5°C however temperatures have been known to rise to 27°C and above. In April, the average temperature is around 15°C but rises to 20°C in May. April and May have around 8 hours of sunshine a day, with this rising to 12 in July and August. October and September still see temperatures of around 17-23°C and 6-8-hours of sunshine a day. November to February, temperatures drop and you will see more rainfall.
