Kalathos – located in the middle of the eastern coast of Rhodes

Kalathos is a very peaceful and relaxing resort which suits people who go away to purely relax and enjoy themselves. It is the perfect quiet getaway for people look for a peaceful experience. The transfer time for this resort is normally around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. This gives you more than enough time to look around at surrounding scenery as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beach is around half a mile long and covered in sand leading down to the waters edge, sun loungers are available to hire and you will find a few beach side bars to enjoy. There are a number of hotels available in Kalathos ranging from 2-4-stars. The hotels are situated in quiet areas, away from the nearby resort of Lindos.

Kalathos – plenty of activities to try in nearby Lindos

Kalathos is really about relaxing, so for more physical activities it is best to head to the nearby resort of Lindos for a range of water sports and plenty of areas to explore. Lindos has a brilliant beach and the water sports that you can try include scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, paragliding, hiring a pedalo, going on a banana boat or even just swimming. There are also plenty of opportunities for you to explore Lindos with the ancient acropolis and a number of local churches. Lindos and Rhodes Town are both brilliant excursions for shopping and sightseeing and you can also enjoy a Greek evening. There is a full island tour available to you, as well as a number of boat trips to other islands such as turkey. The water park in Faliraki is popular among everyone and there is also a cruise with a beach picnic to enjoy.

Kalathos – again a wider choice in Lindos

Kalathos has a limited choice of restaurants, so many people choose to head to Lindos for more variety. You will find the traditional Greek cuisine ans seafood as well as more international cuisine such as Mexican, Italian and Chinese. A number of fast food options are also available. Again, in Lindos the variety is better, with a number of bars offering music and satellite TV as well as a few discos or even late-night shopping. There is a large selection of supermarkets and mini markets as well as jewellery stored, leather goods, crafts and souvenirs. There is a regular bus service into Lindos and Rhodes Town that runs until early evening.

Kalathos – long hot Mediterranean summers

Kalathos enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months in the resort with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Kalathos with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Kalathos however it still tends to remain fairly warm.
