Holidays in Finland are popular as it is a country where all people of all ages are catered for. Lapland is very popular with children, particularly near Christmas when they can see the huskies, reindeer and even Santa. Many families make their way to Finland ever year for a holiday with a difference. There are a number of hotels in Finland, many of which are part of large chains. There are many bed and breakfasts in Finland, however a number of hotels will also have other board basis such as self-catering. Most hotels are rated on a 1-5-star basis, whereas camp-sites are generally rated on a 2-5-star basis.

Finland – Plenty To See And Do

One activity that many people enjoy trying is trekking and this can be done in one of Finland's many trekking routes. Lapland is a brilliant resort for this in early autumn. There are also a couple of museums in Lapland that enable you to learn about life in the north. Midsummer is an excellent time to visit Finland, when the sun doesn't set and everyone is always out and having a good time. Cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snowboarding and husky rides can all be done in Finland, particularly Lapland. Husky safari's come highly recommended and are a very memorable experience. There are many saunas for you to enjoy as well after a long day.

Finland – A Number Of Cuisines Available

The favourite cuisine in Finland is Finnish, however there are plenty of international cuisines so everyone is catered for. Seafood is a favourite dish, as is meat. More foods are available in the summer due to the change in the landscape. Many places are self-service, although a few restaurants still have waiter service. Nightlife varies everywhere but is very popular and there is something for everyone. You will find nightclubs, boat pubs, vodka bars, dance halls, and late-night bars all over Finland, with most staying open until 2am during the week and 4am at weekends. Shopping is not cheap here but you get good quality goods.

Finland – Warm Summers And Cold Winters

From June to August, you will find the hottest temperatures in Finland, ranging from 8°C to 22°C, although its not unknown for temperatures to get as high as 30°C. February is the coldest month, with temperatures reaching as low as -10°C. From late March to early April, you will find mild days and frosty nights so it is still important to wrap up warm. Rainfall in the summer months is light and in the winter is transformed into snow.
