Holidays in Germany offer something for everyone, with a number of cities giving tourists something different. Germany is home to a lot of history and art which appeals to many people looking for a relaxing, sightseeing holiday. Couples and families visit Germany every year, as do people interested in the history of the country. There are a number of beaches in Germany that you can enjoy, with golden sands and sunbeds and parasols available for you to hire. Germany – range of foods to try
There is food for everyone in Germany, with a range of international cuisines such as Chinese and Italian also on the menu. When it comes to tipping people, it is important to tip taxi drivers, cloakroom attendants, bar staff and restaurant staff. A 10% tip is usually welcomed. Nightlife in Germany is brilliant, with everyone catered for. Theatre and opera shows are all available and there are many nightclubs and bars that stay open late into the night. Shopping is popular in Germany, as you can find everything that you would want. Clothing, jewellery, bags, shoes, souvenirs, leather wear, toys and crafts, can all be found all over the country.
Germany – plenty to see and do
Germany has a lot of interesting history and therefore is home to many museums. In Berlin the Pergamon Museum is one of the most popular, as it is filled with antiques. Art galleries are also well-known in Germany as is Charlottenburg Palace which has survived since the late 1660's. If you enjoy long walks or skiing, then try the Harz Mountains, the Bavarian Alps or the Black Forest. Many festivals also take place throughout the year so you can stand by the riverside in the evenings and watch the firework displays. A brilliant activity for families is the Europa-Park. This is Germany's biggest theme park and also features Europe's highest roller-coaster. For wine lovers, there are a huge number of vineyards that you can visit and try your hand at wine-tasting. For relaxation, you will also find over 300 spas and health resorts.
Germany – warm summer, cold winters
The weather frequently changes in Germany, with the coldest months being December and January and the warmest being July. In July, temperatures can reach up to 24°C and be as low as 14°C. In January, temperatures can be as low as -3°C, which is when you will be able to ski in some resorts. Rainfall occurs throughout the year, however it mostly occurs in winter with only small amounts of rain in the summer months.
