Puerto de la Cruz - Located in the North of the Island

Puerto de la Cruz is the most popular destination in northern Tenerife. The beach known as Playa Jardin is full of black sand from the sea bed and is now a Blue Flag beach for its cleanliness. The resort is very picturesque and there is plenty for people to see and do. The scenery of Puerto de la Cruz is very appealing with banana plantations and terraced farms surrounding the resort. People of all ages visit Puerto de la Cruz, although mature couples are more likely to visit the resort in the winter months.

Puerto de la Cruz – full of things to do with attractions nearby

Puerto de la Cruz is home to Aqua park which is popular amongst both children and adults and has become a must see attraction over the years. Here you will find rides, slides, swimming pools, fountains and with plenty of sunbeds, there is no excuse for you not to go. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink so you will be kept occupied all day. Another attraction that you could visit is the LoroParque. Here you will find the dolphinarium as well as hundreds of tropical parrots. Another attraction is the Bananera El Guanche, which enables you to try your own banana licquer as well as ordering flowers and bananas that can be delivered to your hotel. Water sports are quite popular and you can choose from jet-skiing, water skiing, paragliding or scuba diving. One of the attractions that you must see is Mount Teide. Catch the coach that takes you half way up the volcano and then jump in the cable car for some brilliant views.

Puerto de la Cruz – a resort full of beautiful scenery

Puerto de la Cruz offers plenty of places to eat and drink. There are many British pubs and many bars and restaurants offering different cuisines for you to try. There are a few steps in Puerto de la Cruz, however, people with wheelchairs and pushchairs can still get around as there are slopes next to or near them. There are many hotels in Puerto de la Cruz ranging between 2 and 4-stars and parking is limited, so public transport is probably your best option. Public transport is good within the town and there are four buses per day that take you to the south of the island into Playa de las Americas. There is an open air market available to you and a good choice of shops for you to try. You will find everything from leather to clothing to jewellery to souvenirs.

Puerto de la Cruz – better weather in the south

Being in the north, Puerto de la Cruz does not experience as good weather as the resorts in the south. In the winter months, more and more people are staying in the southern resorts for the better weather. During winter, it can be slightly colder and there is a higher risk of rain as the resort is located so close to Mount Teide. In the summer it is still very warm, however not as warm as other resorts. The temperatures remain at a comfortable high and the is a breeze to accompany this.
