There are a lot of shops selling leather, clothing, electrical goods, watches, pictures and jewellery. There is also a lot of karaoke bars, discos and cabaret shows showing impersonating acts. The local bus service is very good in Playa de las Americas, taking you into Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz.

The lowest temperatures that Playa de las Americas experiences is in January and December, but this is still above 20C. The most sunshine occurs from June until August but there is still quite a lot of sunshine during other months. There are light breezes that keep the temperatures constant and keep the heat comfortable and bearable. The rain can make an appearance in the winter, but it never rains for long as the sun comes out.
