Meloneras - Located on the South coast of Gran Canaria

The resort of Meloneras is perfect for couples and families looking for a relaxing getaway. The transfer time into the resort is around 40 minutes meaning you get a chance to look at some of the stunning scenery that Gran Canaria has to offer. The beaches in Meloneras are beautiful and many people spend the majority of their holiday at the beach. There are many hotels in Meloneras and you will find that the majority of them are 4-5-star. The service in the hotels is brilliant as is the food. You will also find some luxury villas and apartments in the resort offering self catering facilities.

Golf is a very popular activity in Meloneras and there is an 18-hole golf course to use where you can also hire out the equipment. The ever popular windsurfing is also available, along with tuition and the facilities to hire the equipment. You can also hire a pedallo if you wanted to go away from the shore. A trip to the neighbouring island of Maspalomas is recommended as then you can visit the water park and look at the sand dunes which are located on one of the best beaches in Gran Canaria. Jeep safaris are also a good idea, as are the camel safaris which are very enjoyable for people of all ages.

Meloneras – plenty of places to eat and drink

Meloneras is home to a wide range of restaurants and bars. The restaurants offer a wide range of cuisines including Canarian, Italian, English and a lot of seafood. There are a few bars offering entertainment and cocktails, but they are mostly very classy. However, both bars and restaurants are reasonably priced. There are many up-market boutiques offering clothing and jewellery in the resort that are very popular with both locals and tourists. The public transport in Meloneras is very reliable with buses and taxis available taking you to other resorts such as Maspalomas at cheap rates.

Meloneras – perfect summer weather

Meloneras is located in the south, meaning it sees the best of the weather. It is very dry and hot in Meloneras with very little rainfall. The summer temperatures are around 28°C in August and September, with January and February still reaching over 22°C. There is rarely any rain in the south as it is so warm and dry. The north will see most of the rain, however the winds from the north do sweep down to the south, however this is welcomed as it keeps the temperatures stable. The rain normally falls between December and February but you still tend to get around 7 hours of sunshine a day. In the summer you will get around 12 hours of sunshine a day so there is plenty of time to have fun in the sun.
