Cala d'Or Resort Guide

Cala D'or - Located on the South-East coast of Majorca

Cala D'or is one and a half hours away from the airport and as a purpose-built resort, it is perfect for tourists. Many families take holidays to Cala D'or, as do couples as it has so much to offer to them. The hotels range from 2-4-star and offer most board basis. There are seven beaches within Cala D'or, however it has been known to get very busy at times. The resort still has a slight feel of being a fishing village as there are no high rise buildings, and it is not too built up. The sea is perfectly safe to swim in, with shallow waters making it perfect for children. Flights to Palma take approximately 2.5 hours.

Cala D\'or – plenty of entertainment, both day and night

There is so much to do on Cala D'or's beaches that many people do end up spending all day there. There are activity centres with trampolines and many people making sand models. There are also some water sports available such as windsurfing and scuba diving. In addition to water sports, many land activities have proved to be just as popular. Here, you can partake in hiking, cycling or even bird watching. There is also an 18 hole golf course, however this is roughly 4 miles away. There are some local excursions available such as visiting the Caves of Drach or taking a coach trip to Palm or Alcudia.

Cala D\'or – still has a small, village feel

Although Cala D'or has managed to maintain it's small village feel, there is still plenty for tourists to do. There are many places to eat and drink in the resort with a number of restaurants offering different cuisines. You will find English, German, Spanish, Chinese an Indian foods, so everyone is well catered for. There are around 5 different clubs in the resort with some open until dawn. These clubs are very popular with young groups as are the 18 bars that are available. Public transport is reliable, with regular bus trips to Palma and there are also taxis which charge reasonable prices. There are also plenty of shops selling leather clothing, art, souvenirs and designer clothes at discount prices.

Cala D\'or – permanent summer weather

Cala D'or has very hot weather, especially during July and August. All the way between May and October is sunshine and its only from November to April that you may need a jacket in the evenings. It is also more likely to rain in the winter months so you may wish to wrap up warm. However, there is always sunshine at some stage during the day, and this is normally very warm.
