The popular Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh will play host to a large-scale international yoga festival in the spring, set to attract hundreds of fans of the discipline.
The Egypt International Yoga Festival will run for the fifth time in 2012, offering yoga enthusiasts a wide range of activities at the Domina Coral Bay Elisir Hotel. The event will run between 26 April and 1 May, and is open to all traditions and levels of experience, providing beginners with more gentle introductory classes and more experience yoga practitioners with sessions to give them more of a challenge.
Visitors to the festival will also get to enjoy relaxing Thai yoga massages and sit in on workshops teaching new yoga techniques and ways to open and relax the mind. The feel of the event will tie in with the host nation, with all the attractions reflecting the theme ‘Egypt back to freedom’, in reference to the recent political changes to sweep the country, and in line with yoga’s key goal of ‘kaivalya’, which is about detachment and liberation.
Having first taken place in 2008, the International Yoga Festival has grown in size to accommodate the hundreds of yoga enthusiasts who now visit each year. The Domina Coral Bay Elisir Hotel also offers guests the use of its expansive tropical gardens, gym including spa and beauty treatments and easy access to Coral Bay on the Red Sea.
