story6airportsecurity8.jpgThe Civil Aviation Authority gave BAA permission to increase security charges at London Gatwick Airport.

If the increase in charges does come in then the annual security costs are set to rise from £31.4 million to a massive £82.9 million.

BAA believe that the increase is necessary to improve security at the airport. They are saying that more security personnel could be employed meaning that the one bag rule could be removed.

EasyJet bosses are very unhappy saying that the charge was already increased when the one bag rule was introduced and now they want to increase the charge again to take the rule away.

The new charges are set to come into force on April 1st 2008.
