Marmaris - Located in South-West Turkey
Marmaris is a resort suited to many people who go away to enjoy themselves throughout the say and have lively evenings. Many couples, groups of singles and families can be found in Marmaris. Depending on whether you fly into Dalaman airport or Bodrum airport will depend on whether your transfer takes 1 and a half or 2 hours. The beach in Marmaris is very long and covered with fine, pale sands. It is important to get there early during peak times as it does get very busy. Marmaris – plenty of water sports and sightseeing to take part in
Marmaris is home to many water sports such as windsurfing, surfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, para-gliding and banana boat rides. If you would prefer to relax, then head to the Turkish baths for a variety of treatments including massages. You can also take boat and yacht trips as well as party cruises where you are likely to have stop-off\'s where you can dive off the boat into the sea. There is also plenty of sightseeing to do in the museum located in the castle. You can also go on many excursions where you can do more sightseeing in the small villages just outside the town. There are many ancient and historic sites for you to look at in Marmaris as well as trips to Rhodes, Bodrum and Dalyan. Jeep safaris are also a popular way to go sightseeing.
Marmaris – lively nightlife to enjoy
Marmaris is a resort with a good choice of restaurants. The speciality is Turkish and this is very popular with tourists and locals. The nightlife in Marmaris is some of the liveliest around. There are music bars, karaoke bars, cocktail bars, discos and entertainment in the hotels. There are also many scenic waterfront restaurants. There are plenty of shops for you to enjoy in Marmaris where you will find clothing, jewellery, shoes, bags, watches, crafts and souvenirs. There is also a market held on Fridays. There are plenty of buses offering cheap rates into other resorts. There are some buses that travel long distances, as well as taxis that offer cheap fares. You can also go on a ferry trip to Rhodes.
Marmaris – typically hot Mediterranean climate
Marmaris is a hot resort with 320 days of pure sunshine a year. August is the hottest month in Marmaris with temperatures exceeding 35°C. There is a cooling sea breeze that sweeps through the resort keeping the humidity down and temperatures at a comfortable level. You will also be lucky enough to get 13 hours of pure sunshine a day in Marmaris. From July until the end of September, it is very unlikely that temperatures will drop below 30°C. From October onwards, temperatures are still above 25°C and you will still see over 10 hours of sunshine a day. The water temperatures are very warm making it all the more pleasant to try water sports. During the winter, temperatures are still around 15°C. There are still around 5 hours of sunshine a day for you to enjoy, however there will be the odd shower. The rainfall is very infrequent and does not last long so there is still plenty of time to go and enjoy the sunshine.
