Costa de la Luz Resort Guide

Costa de la Luz - Located on the Southern Spanish coast

Costa de la Luz is relatively unknown, even though it borders Portugal. You will find many couples and families with both young children and teenagers in the area. There is plenty for everyone to do and the resort is so relaxing that you do feel like you have had a really good break when you get back home. One of the best beaches in Costa de la Luz is Zahara de las Atunes. The beaches all have crystal clear waters and fine, pale sands for you to admire. All of the beaches have fine sands, whether they are golden or pale and they are perfect for holiday makers looking to relax in the hot sunshine. There are also pine trees located around the beaches which help add to the picturesque setting. You will find plenty of hotels and apartments in Costa de la Luz mainly ranging from 2-4-star. There are also apartments available for those who want to try self-catering. You will find all of the facilities that you need in all of the hotels and apartments.

Costa de la Luz – plenty of water sports to keep you occupied

Due to the warm, clear waters, water sports have become very popular. You try out snorkelling, windsurfing, scuba diving, water-skiing, sailing or surfing. If you prefer dry land then why not try out the 27-hole golf course. There are amazing views to be seen from the golf course and everyone can try, whether you are experienced or just a beginner. One thing that everyone must do is visit the Donana National Park. This is one of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries in Europe and is home to birds, wildlife and beautiful flowers. There is also plenty of sightseeing to be done. There are many historic ruins in Costa de la Luz, as well as miles of cobbled streets and even Roman public baths.

Costa de la Luz – plenty of places to eat and drink

The restaurants in Costa de la Luz are predominately Spanish. You will find a lot of seafood at one of the harbour-side restaurants. Crab, lobster and sardines are all favourites in the area. You will also find Chinese, Italian and British options if that is what you wish to have. There is not much nightlife in the area apart from the restaurants. Many people choose to take an evening walk, especially at sunset. There are a few bars in the area, however they are not open until the early hours of the morning. They all have music and a friendly atmosphere for both tourists and locals. There are shops in the area offering clothing, designer clothings, shoes, bags, jewellery, cameras, phones and souvenirs. You will find perfumeries everywhere as well as cosmetic shops. Public transport in the area is good with many buses taking you to and from other resorts and taking you around Costa de la Luz itself. There are also quite a few taxis offering cheap rates.

Costa de la Luz – brilliant sunshine and warm temperatures all year round

The coldest temperature is in January and this is still around 17°C. The warmest temperatures come in August and are around 30°C. During the summer months, you will get 12 hours of sunshine a day along with warm water temperatures, meaning that water sports become very popular. There is a gently breeze sweeping across from the Atlantic making the heat comfortable and bearable. During the summer months, the evening temperatures are still around 15-20°C so if you can, it is advisable to get accommodation with air conditioning. During the evenings in winter, the temperature still rarely drops below 10°C meaning whatever time of year you come, you are likely to have a warm holiday. From late September to early October, you may find some rain but this does not last very long. There are still 7 hours of sunshine a day during the winter months meanings you still have a perfect climate to holiday in.
