Tavira – located on the south-east corner or Portugal

Tavira is perfect for self-catering beach holidays and is a resort that will suit many couples and families and it is a budget to mid-market resort. From Faro airport, the transfer time to this resort is only 40 minutes, giving you plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beach is long and scenic, covered in fine, golden sands and has plenty of facilities for you to enjoy. The main accommodation consists of self-catering apartments although there are also a few 4-star hotels as well.

Tavira – plenty of sightseeing in historical areas

Tavira activities will mainly be found in the accommodation complexes. Entertainment staff normally put on activities for you to enjoy. Exploring the town has become popular over the years with a historical centre and many churches to look at. There are also plenty of excursions for you to try such as a day trip to Seville in Spain, an inland tour of the local villages, a visit to Moorish castle, Loule market, Silves castle or even the Monchique Mountains. Bird watching is quite popular among many people and the Ria Formosa nature reserve is fairly close by.

Tavira – a number of restaurants to choose from

Tavira is home to a number of restaurants that are affordable and offer a range of cuisines. Seafood is very popular, especially shellfish and a number of other cuisines are also available. These include Portuguese, Italian, British, Chinese and Indian. Most of the nightlife can be found within the accommodation complexes where shows and live music can be found. There is one nightclub in the area but other than that the nightlife is very tame. Souvenirs, crafts and clothing can be found in Tavira as well as artefacts. Public transport in Tavira is very good with a number of buses taking you to other resorts such as Faro. Taxis and a mini train are also available.

Tavira – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in Tavira is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Tavira are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Tavira with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
