Faro Resort Guide

Faro – located towards the middle of the Algarve coast

Faro appeals to many different people including business people, singles, couples of all ages, historians and anyone looking for a mid to upmarket holiday. As the airport is located in Faro, you will benefit from a very short transfer time. Faro\'s beach is very long and covered in golden sand which is backed by picturesque sand dunes. During high season it can get very crowded so try and get there early to get a good spot. There are plenty of facilities nearby as well. There are many apartments in Faro, and a few hotels ranging from 3-4-stars. You will find a variety of board basis from self-catering to half-board to all-inclusive.

Faro – plenty to keep you occupied during the day

There is plenty of sightseeing and exploring for you to do during the day in Faro. There is a beautiful cathedral for you to explore, as well as the white-washed buildings along the cobbled streets and the many museums in Faro. There is a range of architecture to be explored, including the Archaeological museum and the Maritime Museum. The harbour is a popular place to go as it is fairly relaxing. Ria Formosa lagoon is a must-see as it is a 42,000 acre nature reserve. As well as this, you can choose from a number of excursions such as seeing the remains of a Roman villa, visiting the village of Almancil of going to various other resorts for sightseeing, activities or shopping.

Faro – plenty of restaurants to cater to all tastes

There are plenty of restaurants in Faro offering a variety of cuisines. You will find Portuguese, Spanish, seafood, Italian, French, Indian and Chinese. There are some discos in Faro with DJ\'s offering late night music. There are also a number of bars in the resort and some have live music or karaoke to keep you entertained. There are plenty of places to shop in Faro and you will find clothing, jewellery, souvenirs, shoes, antiques and other crafts. Public transport is good and reliable with a large bust station near the harbour. The buses travel to all of the major resorts in the Algarve which means you can get to places such as Lisbon and Albufeira. Taxis are also available around the town.

Faro – over 3,000 hours of pure sunshine a year

The weather in the Faro is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in the Faro are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in the Faro with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
