Following in the footsteps of other well-known brands such as Versace and Ralph Lauren, the Italian label Missoni is the latest fashion house to open its own hotel. Edinburgh might seem a strange choice for the first opening, but the brand were confident that the old city had enough personality to make it work.
The 136-room hotel occupies a modern looking building just off the lively Royal Mile. It's an easy walk from here to sites such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal residence at Holyrood Palace and the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens. Waverly Station, the city's main rail terminal, is also within close reach.
Inside, the hotel is adorned in a striking black and white scheme, complete with framed Missoni prints. The rooms are just as extravagant, with stylish décor, heated mirrors and walk-in shower rooms. The more elaborate suites featuring desks, swiveling pop-art chairs and dramatic views over Edinburgh.
Despite this level of comfort, the Hotel Missoni offers surprisingly good value for money. An inclusive deal is available on many of the suite options, which includes breakfast, laundry services, movies on demand and free refills on the minibar!
Other facilities offered by the hotel include a gym, laptop hire, wireless internet and a spa which is set to open soon.

Eating and Drinking:
In fitting with the extravagant rooms, the Hotel Missoni boasts a high class Italian restaurant, called Cucina. Here the rich, seasoned food is served on uniquely patterned crockery and tablecloths. The wine list is extensive, as are the choices for the continental breakfasts.
In addition to this there is a stylish bar on the ground floor, filled with low, cushioned seats set into intimate alcoves.
The hotel does not include a swimming pool.
While the Hotel Missoni would make a good base for anyone who wants to visit the sights of Edinburgh, there is a danger you may end up never leaving the comfort of the hotel! Definitely a good option for romantic breaks, or those who enjoy a touch of class.
