About the 5* Gaya Island Resort

This air-conditioned beach hotel was built in 2012 and comprises a total of 121 rooms. Guests are welcomed in the lobby, which offers a 24-hour reception, as well as a hotel safe and currency exchange facilities. Younger guests will enjoy the children's playground and the kids' club. Business travellers can make use of the conference facilities. The club resort offers wireless Internet access, room service and a laundry service. Discoveries, authentic experiences and a sense of intimacy with the natural world all prevail across the land and seascape of this resort, with its youthful atmosphere and sunlit moments, offering travellers and families an escape that is distinctively Borneo.

The resort is located in a unique setting on Pulay Gaya, which is 15 minutes off Kota Kinabalu. This is also the largest of a cluster of five islands that form the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a natural conservation area off the coast of Borneo. The hotel is set on land fringed with a golden sandy beach and rocky coastal outcrops, and surrounded by coral reefs. The hilly island landscape is covered with a lush tropical rainforest and an abundance of flora and fauna, and the stunning outline of Mount Kinabalu is visible in the distance. It is approximately 15 minutes' drive from Sutera Harbour Marina to Kota Kinabalu city centre.

Spacious, tactile and modern, and yet integrating local Sabahan elements, each villa is 47 square-metres and uses local materials that blend harmoniously with the natural environment. All villas have a large open en suite bathroom with a shower, oversized bathtub and a hairdryer. Each villa offers a double or king-size bed, a writing desk, direct dial telephone, flat-screen TV with satellite channels, Internet access, a safe, mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Further standard features of accommodation units include individually regulated air conditioning and an outdoor veranda with day beds.

The hotel features a 55-metre outdoor swimming pool with floating cabanas facing the beach and a wading pool for kids, as well as a poolside snack bar and sun loungers. Guests can work out in the gym or try their hand at a range of water sports, including diving and catamaran boating. An award-winning Spa Village is integrated into the mangroves, featuring 6 treatment rooms with outdoor decks and a yoga space. It offers a variety of spa treatments that reflect the ancient healing of the region while restoring balance to alleviate the stress of modern life. Moreover, sun loungers are available for hire on the nearby sandy beach.

A buffet breakfast is served each morning at the hotel. Lunch and dinner can be taken à la carte. The resort serves regional cuisine and exquisite fresh seafood prepared by its skilled chefs. Guests can enjoy fresh and delicious meals whilst recounting the day's adventures with family and friends, or relax with a drink at the café or bar.

American Express, Diners Club, JCB, MasterCard and VISA are accepted at this establishment.

Transport is offered by speed boat for a fee. Once guests arrive at the Sutera Harbour Marina, taxi services are easily available and can be arranged through the resort's check-in lounge.
