The hotel was built in 2011. This air-conditioned city hotel comprises a total of 86 rooms. The hotel's name means ‘rock' in Icelandic and is derived from the rock that protrudes from the wall on the first floor of the hotel. The hotel's look and interior take their inspiration from Icelandic nature, especially the Icelandic rocks. The Hallgrímskirkja church can be found a 1.1 km walk from the hotel.

Drive past two sets of traffic lights and then turn left onto Mjolniholti. The hotel can be found at the end of the street on the right-hand side.
