This family-friendly club resort is a lakeside Disney Deluxe Resort featuring lush landscaping and the formal grace of a grand New England yacht club. Designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern, who is known for his East Coast beach houses, this splendid 5-storey resort transports guests to the summertime Shingle-style hotels of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The sister resort is a more relaxed, pastel-toned edifice next door and the 2 share many amenities. Public areas and the 610 guest rooms and suites are adorned in dark wood and wicker furniture, portholes and simulated captain's wheels. Cast members are decked out in ship's crew regalia, including navy blazers and captain's hats. Further facilities at the air-conditioned themed hotel include a lobby with 24-hour reception, hotel safe, newspaper stand, currency exchange facilities and lift access to the upper floors. There is a games room and children's playground on-site as well as a bar and restaurant. Room and laundry services are offered for additional fees.
This hotel is situated close to the EPCOT theme park, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's BoardWalk area. Guests may take advantage of the shuttle bus service to the famous Walt Disney World theme parks or take a walk through the International Walkway into the EPCOT theme park.
The guest rooms are all carpeted and come with an en suite bathroom with shower, bathtub and hairdryer, and a king-size bed or two double beds. Further fittings of the rooms include a direct dial telephone, a radio, satellite/cable TV and Internet access. Also featuring within the rooms are an in-room wall safe, minibar, fridge and ironing facilities. Air conditioning and heating are both individually controlled.
Behind the resort lie Stormalong Bay and Crescent Lake. Stormalong Bay spans 3 acres, with water slides emerging from the life-size replica of a wrecked ship, lagoons, a slow river to float along in inner tubes and a sand-bottom pool. There are two heated outdoor swimming pool with a poolside snack bar. At 25-acre Crescent Lake, guests can rent a variety of watercraft (such as pedal boats and pontoons) from the Bayside Marina, go on a fishing expedition or take a private cruise on the Breathless, where at night one might see fireworks. They can also stretch out and relax on white-sand shores and discover the rustic charm of the Yachtsman Steakhouse as they savour mouth-watering steaks, seafood, chicken and lamb dishes. Guests will find state-of-the-art Nautilus and Hammer Strength exercise equipment at the Ship Shape Health Club and can then unwind in the hot tub or sauna, or with a rejuvenating massage. In addition to all the fun of Stormalong Bay and Crescent Lake, there is a 24-hour high-tech games room as well as the Sandcastle Club, a supervised activity centre for children aged 3-12 that affords parents a carefree night on the town (additional fee required).
